Here's a great one:
The original movie was actually VERY good. I grew up on the cartoon and didn't read the original comic (graphic novel collection) until a couple years after the movie came out so didn't realize until then that the movie is actually rather faithful to the comic, except for some details (April O'Neil as a reporter and Michaelangelo's surfer persona came from the cartoon. He was almost as violent as Raphael in the comic book!)
I think if Hollywood needs to look at the series that needs a reboot, TMNT is up there. The 2nd-4th movies (included that craptacular CGI pseudo-sequel a couple years ago) took it to nearly Batman and Robin levels of cheese (though at least we didn't get turtle nipples. Curse you, Joel Schumaker!)
They should do a fresh adaptation of TMNT, and base it STRICTLY on the first story in the original comic: Turtles vs. Shredder. No April, no additional subplots, just a pure revenge movie. Have the turtles actually KILL people, like the gang of punks in the first few pages. They could easily flesh it out by showing more of the rivalry between Hamato Yoshi and Oroku Nagi, and Saki/Shredder tracking Yoshi to New York and killing him and Tang Shen. Rather than a brief flashback like in the comic, they can expand this sequence and SHOW it instead. Maybe do something like they did with Watchmen where they intercut the character origins with the "present day" action.
A darker, bloodier, grittier TMNT close to the comics would ROCK.
