No. 303sqn SpitfireIX
« on: March 24, 2009, 03:09:19 AM »
Banshee7 wanted me to do this skin for him. I'm about 90% done with it in this picture. I still need to do the text stenciling and a bit more weathering. I should have it done in a week or so, but wanted to put this up to so its being worked on.

Spitfire MkIXC of No. 303sqn "Kościuszko" flown by Sqn Ldr Jan Falkowski, June 1943.

P.S. If any of you have combat photos of this aircraft please post them. All I found was a color profile and a few diecast models.

Once known as ''TrueKill''.

Larry,

Another good job!  :aok  If you would allow it, let me pound the crap out of that fuselage, to give it some stress.  I lack the tools to get all of the markings in place when I attempt skinning.  This is purely a work of love for me.  Give me a day and see what you think.  I also enjoyed picking up some of the history of the 303rd.  The last picture is actually supposed to be the 303rd, not sure, anyhow, I found the stress around the fuselage and rivets interesting.  :)

Thanks.  I haven't worked on it in a while.  Still some Screenshots, a squad history (Real Life), and a few more things like helpful links, etc..

One of the best books I've read about the 303 is this one:  http://www.amazon.com/Question-Honor-Kosciuszko-Squadron-Forgotten/dp/0375411976

This book focuses on the 303 exclusively.  There are many books out there about the Polish Air Force in WWII.  Happy hunting.
