Can a macro be assighned to a joystick button ??
« on: March 29, 2009, 01:07:17 PM »
I am trying to program buttons on my new ch quad throtle to start/stop individual engines with 1 button push. The ch control manager should allow me to do this but they dont seem to want to do anything. Is there a system or game setting which would block those macros from functioning even though they download and save ok.

IT can be done in the CH panel then saved.  But all stick/throttle functions have to be mapped so your stick will function.

You can assign a series of keystrokes with the CH Control Manager software.  For what you want to do, it will need to be something like "SHF 1 e SHF e", which will select engine 1, turn it on/off, then select all engines.  If you don't put the SHF e at the end engine 1 will stay selected.

Make sure that CHCM has the controls in Mapped mode.  Otherwise it won't do any macros.

thank you for your replys, I had high hopes that the mapped mode sugggestion would work but it hasnt. :cry I dont know if it makes a difference but i created the map in direct mode so that the result is cm 1-4, this got around the 6 axis and 32 button limit. If I remake the map so that output is cm 1 then I dont have full use of all my controls at one time. So I actually dont know if I did anything by going back in and clicking map mode and re-downloading the map. :furious

disruptr,
I do not mean this to come off as harsh or rude as it may sound.....but if you go in and read the manual/help files for CHManager( formerly SpeedKeys on the old CH Products analog/joystick/midi plug) you will figure out that macros can be done in Aces high quiet easily.....

I played for nearly 8 yrs with the old gameport style of CH fighterstick/throttle/pedals and had quiet many macros setup..( in Aces high, even longer before AH back in AW, WB, FA, TW etccc....
it took me close to 3 months to figure out how to get the new USB CH gear to perform the same way the macros worked in the old SpeedKeys program for gameport models.......

Also, the 3 modes the CH HOTAS allows........really comes in handy for you to have FULL CONTROL

the downside ( for a short while ) is developing your muscle memory to remember on instinct(without thought) to switch the mode back like it is second nature......so you have controller capability....I must remind you though I am not fully versed on the "ch quad throtle"  but as with most any CH Products HOTAS setup, the combinations of set keys, macros, commands are endless.......

just takes a little time to figure out what all is possible.....

Good Luck and try the gang out over on the Ch forums @ http://www.ch-hangar.com
