A couple more....  and a story to go with the last photo....

Quote
So Ritz concocted this brilliant plan to have most of the C-Hawks hit this airbase, while he sent a lone bomber...that's me... to prep a VH base.  I decided to take my trusty 26s with 25% fuel and 500lb bombs.  With that combination I can take down 4 hangars worth of stuff as well as the ack using the nose guns.  So I take off, climb to about 7000 ft AGL and set about dropping the hangars.  BAM. BAM. BAM.  All the hangars go down on first drop with no GV's making it out.  Awesome I think, as I call Ritz and tell him to start sending an M3.  I figure I'll have this ack down in no time.  So I do a nice hammerhead with the bombers to turn them around fast and just as I reach the stall point my engines cut out.  I look at my fuel....poof, reading empty.  I'm at about 9000ft, and lined up from NE to SW across the field.  So I begin my dive to almost certain death, knowing if I don't hit the ack, our plan is dead in the water.  My drones catch up to me but start to fall back at around 4000ft, and at 2k I open up on the first ack.  Down it goes.  I'm now a lot more confident as I aim my nose to the Manned Ack.  I start pegging it, but it refused to drop.  I figure I'm gonna ride this one in until it goes down and pray I can pull up.  Well, I succeed in dropping it at 100 ft and start my pull-up.  But that just doesn't happen at 300mph.  Bam I go in, worried that I've screwed the pooch.  But lo and behold, my drones were far enough back I can save them, but now I'm hurting for altitude and time, so I pull hard to the right and line up with my drone onto the ack.  Exactly at that moment, our bullets pass in midair, greeting each other as they go on and score direct hits, the auto-ack on my drone and my drone on the auto-ack.  The ack pops and I know our mission is saved.  But my drone is going down missing a wing.  I try to level out but at the last second it rolls over and augers.   My heart sinks until I notice I'm hearing grinding metal.  I look up and there's my third drone making a not so graceful landing, popping one wing off on a tree and the other off on the road.  I come to rest, in one piece, sitting beside the road, watching Ritz drive in and capture the base with my smoking hangars in the back ground.  I even get to watch the supply trucks run right beside me as I sit and wait for the calvary.  When the troops captured the field, I called to Ritz.... "Hey Ritz, you're never gonna believe the ride I had...."

Wish I could have tried one of those.

To every man upon this earth, death cometh soon or late.
And how can man die better, than facing fearful odds.
For the ashes of his fathers and the temples of his Gods."
