I'm looking at buying a pontiac G8 GT... 361 hp in a reasonably modern 4-door sedan. It doesn't have in-dash GPS navigation though, so I'm debating buying now with the current $3000 off of invoice pricing or hold out until they add a nav system and pay a bunch extra.
If I'd never used an in-car GPS nav then it wouldn't even be a question, I'd buy now. But my wife's civic has GPS nav and it's great, very helpful. It saved us on one vacation when we had to drive through an ice storm on the way to the airport and some retard blocked a high bridge on a 2-lane road with no way to bypass. We hit the detour button and blindly followed the gps directions down some farm roads, and got to the airport less than 15 minutes later than if we'd been able to take the highway.
The huge discount right now is attractive though... The first dealer I went to didn't even show me the retail sticker since he knew I'd done my homework. He pulled up the current pricing on his computer showing me "retail" and "invoice" pricing, and said he'd apply the $3000 GM incentive to the invoice. Most dealers will start with retail, chop off some nebulous "special deal just for you my friend", and only then apply the incentive. But this guy went straight for invoice minus incentive, and was honest about not being able to go lower without cutting into the dealer specific incentives GM uses just to keep dealers in business.
