Considering buying a new car..
« on: April 20, 2009, 09:55:34 PM »
a truck to be exact.. I need something besides a 2 seater sports car with no trunk... im 28 for gods sake.. time to grow up  :lol

Ive always been totally against buying brand new vehicles, considering a low mileage used vehicle is usually MUCH cheaper..

BUT

Considering most dealerships are now offering 0% interest, and now with the stimulus there is a tax credit on the sales tax..  you can buy a new car and get it financed for out to 5 years, pay no interest on the loan and pay no sales tax  :huh

I just seems like too good of a deal to pass up..

anyone else "bit by the new car bug"?

The only thing holding me back, is I REALLY enjoy not having a car payment..

Save the payments up and pay with cash.

You're young and you buy a car you want.

Then, someone convinces you to grow up.

Then, at some point, you grow up, realize you wish you were young again, and buy what you want.

Point?  Buy what you want :)  Your gonna spend most of your life "old" and eternity as dust.  You want a truck?

1956 Ford, buy one that runs, have a blast with it.  Instead of monthly payments, put 400 a month into doing something fun with it.

Keep the 2 seater for when you need 2 months to swap the cam  :rofl

Nothing clever here.  Please, move along.

Buy an old 60 series Toyota Land Cruiser if you want a real truck.  They're a little old, the stylings a bit off and the mileage sucks, but it'll last forever, has plenty of room, and is tough and rugged, with some of the best 4WD performance around.  I got one :D  1990 Land Cruiser with an Auto tranny.  Best truck I've ever had.  Though, I'm 16 and it's my only car, and will remain so for quite a long time.  Regardless.  You want a real truck, get that.  Although, if by truck, you mean pickup truck, get a Land Cruiser.  They're better anyway. :rock

Right now you could get a good used truck for next to nothing. Also, I've seen f150s for a hair over 10k brand new.

You guys should hassle your Ford dealers about getting these:

270kw, 0-60 in 5.5 seconds.

Turbo charged 4.0 litre straight 6.

Only does 2 litres per hundered kilometers more than the gay little fuel sipping trendy cars these days.

Prices start in the low $30k AUD mark for the non-turbo version.

what he said, we have an old (2002 I think) non turbo xr-6 ute as the work vehicle. Always fights at work about who's going to do deliveries, buy milk and coffee etc. etc.Its a fun car to drive

If that car was sold in the US, I might have considered it instead of my Subaru Baja.

However, my Baja has a full backseat in addition to the truck bed.
