EDITING TEXTURES
« on: April 25, 2009, 02:12:33 AM »
Im working on a terrain and trying to give it a different look as everyone else does,i edited a couple of terrain types(grass, forest).more or less just changing the colors some,i put them in the texsrc folder(terr0001,terr0005, along with the ovly's and ovly_a's)for the terrain im making but their not showing up in the TE,its still the original terr...bmps.i made sure they were 512x512 8bit.i also took out the TCA files for the original .bmps thinking that might work and no go.i went by the directions for terrain textures from ahwiki to the tee and still no go,any help or advice would be appreciated.

You might try clearing the terrain's cache folder, it rebuilds automatically with the new files.

BTW a word of warning. Since HTC are redoing the textures and how they are applied to the terrain, your new bmps will be obsolete once the new editor comes out.

Don't they also have to be 256 color bitmaps?

Always delete the cache folder every time you change stuff.  The next time you start the TE it will rebuild.  PM me the bmps and I'll check em out and get ya going.

Just in case it would help any of us (such as me :D ), what did you do to get it working?

well in vista, htc under program files when it dosent show them all you can click compatibility files in the menu and they show up.
so what i did was just copy the whole folder and put it in the TE folder.
and also my dumb-arse had the texsrc file named "texscr". :huh
