Not just anything. He's an outsider to the federation. That group showed up at his home (while he was out mining or whatever), and totally bungled up their intervention, resulting in the planet being turned to dust. Can you say anti-climax? Blinded by his anger and marooned in the far past, all he has left to feel some kind of satisfaction is killing that fake romulanoid freak Spock, and while he's at it, trashing the Fed unchallenged.  No more foreign pukes to screw things up like they did at Romulus in the future-past.

Nero wasn't trying to save Romulus, though that was a nice crutch for his conscience, and a reasonable excuse for his crew. Nero lost his wife and child on Romulus... He was obsessed with avenging them.

Star Trek has always been about the characters, not the wars and politics, and this movie is no different. This latest Star Trek movie is essential the tale of three men and how their lives and choices define them and affect each other: Kirk, Spock and Nero. The old Spock fails to save Nero's family and everything he lived for. In return Nero for all intents and purposes destroys the old Spock and his world, and creates the new Kirk, who in turn helps the new Spock find his place in the universe and destroy Nero.

And throws out everything the original series was built on. I doubt very much many fans will like the next movie with Bones liking Spock instead of arguing with him or even the fact that Spock is embracing his emotions instead of holding them back.

I don't see how there isn't room for plenty of fundamental disagreements between Bones and Spock.  They barely know each other. Spock still could have plenty of emotional panty-twisting dilemnas. Plenty of powder left in the keg.

Bones and Spock getting along???  This totally did not happen in the movie at all.. 
Also, Spock lost his cool several times and showed his emotions in the Original Series..  He's half-human..
Losing his mom, his planet, being half-human..  Yeah, I can understand emotionally compromised....

Also, you say the movie throws out everything that the original series was built on.. 
So, if you are so adept in knowledge of the original series, do tell what TOS was built on.......
I seriously doubt you either know or understand.....

Finally, if I may post 2 particular quotes of Gene Roddenberry himself:

How will that save Romulus?  The Federation didn't create the Supernova...

And how is it the Federation's/Spock's fault in the first place? 

Romulans are Xenophobes.  Add this to the fact that Nero watched his planet get destroyed that his wife and unborn child were on as well
as being locked up on the Rura Penthe (The Klingon Prison Planet) for a number of years before being broken out (which was shot but left out of the movie for
run-time reasons) and you've got the recipe for a pretty disgruntled Romulan.. 

You should never look at movies like this from a literal or logical point of view..  If they were so, they would not be entertaining...

Much like in Pearl Harbor,sometimes you just have to enjoy the movie for what it is and ignore that glaring Aegis cruiser sitting at the docks.

I saw it. I saw the scene when McCoy says he really likes this guy. Thats doesn't bode well for the next movie if they aren't continuing that realtionship they had in the original series that everyone loved.

As for Spock losing his cool in the series, yes he did, BUT he always tried to act as if it never happened or have an excuse for it. Thats out the window since it shows him embracing his emotions at the end of the movie.

On Roddenberry, he didn't like how the original series played out with Kirk in the spotlight. He wanted ALL the crew to play equal parts in it as it did in all the other Star Trek series did. Of course they will not be as memeorable as the original because of that, but who cares now that they have wiped the slate clean with this movie.

As for it being a BIG hit, Pearl Harbor made around $450,000,000 million worldwide and many in here consider it garbage. I suppose you think it was a great movie as well.

 Great movie?Hardly.The point I was making is in order to watch a movie for the entertainment factor one has to over look glareing omissions at times. Like the guy shooting an automatic till it runs outta ammo and he still pulls the trigger...and it still keeps on clicking like the hammer is still hitting.
 Every movie has its faults.

Everyone knew they would give thier lives for each and were good friends but the would never admit it or show it until the situation became dire.
