Early war needs to be earlier.
« on: May 11, 2009, 05:22:18 AM »
I would make early war real early war as in september 1939 up to the end of the Battle of Britain and gradually introduce early war British and french tanks as well as early war French Aircraft. Italian early war stuff could be added eventually.

These early war types could then be used in a meaningfull way and would become popular in the game.

Russian American and Japanese stuff would be excluded.

Um. WHY?

Japan was fighting in China as early as 1935-1936. The F4F was in service by 1940.

Hey, I got an idea, let's just turn EVERYTHING into a Western Europe arena! It's not like the game isn't ALREADY Euro-centric enough!

Early War time line should be 1939 to 1941.

There is a point here as the majority of WW2 was in eastern Europe. However the most significant and decisive air battle was the Battle Of Britain.

He means there arnt enough planes to particularly represent the Eastern Front as well as the Pacific to a lesser extent.

eg Soviet and Japanese Aircraft are under reoresented in terms of types. 3 x Soviet fighters vs for example v 11 British fighters.

That and the current terrain tiles are very definitely Western Europe in influence. The new terrain will fix that, but the MAPS we have are predominantly European as well. There's only maybe 2-3 maps on the Mains that could REALLY be qualified as "PTO."

When the new terrain is released I might toy around with my ComSoPac map idea again. It had a recreation of the Atoll from the old AW Pacific map in the center, and was mostly small airfields scattered around small islands with an "HQ" island for each country with much denser distribution of bases. Ports were all at the country's HQ base, with one more on each country's "forward base," (along with a strat). Losing a CV would REALLY hurt because of how far the boats would have to travel to get into the action, so smart usage of the task groups would be a major key (as opposed to running them up right off the shore).

Ok, glad I asked...I thought you were somehow talking about the planeset.

EDIT/And yes, hopefully we'll get bunch of Soviet/Japanese a/c in somewhat near future after the terrain update./EDIT
