use of damaged buildings
« on: May 11, 2009, 03:27:44 PM »
I would like to be able to pull my tank inside a destroyed building or a damaged one with the barrel of the gun sticking out of the oposite wall or a window for the porpose of ambushes. HTC could also make it so you could put an HE shell into the wall of a building creating a hole you could pull into. You could also decrece the vis range to around .3K to compencate for the fact that only the barrel of your gun will be showing outside of the building. I would have killed many more enemy gv's if we had this in Titanic Tuesday. let me know what you think but please don't flame too hard.

We used to have this a few years back. I don't recall why it was changed. Yes, I myself would enjoy having this feature again.

Why can't you just destroy the building? or you just could not see the tank?

IIRC they could see and shoot out of the building but players outside the building couldn't see them or hit them if they figured out which building they were in without first destroying the building.

Enemy tank in your town inside a building.  How do you destroy the building?

A viable alternative would be to make buildings "solid" when they are intact.

Wonder what kind of air a Tiger could get when the destroyed building it was in re-pops?

Actually I have seen this happen in the past few months.  IIRC one of the more 'metallic'-looking buildings in particular you can drive your vehicle in.  What you need is a gap in the rubble actually big enough to fit your tank through.
Afk for a year or so.  The name of a gun turret in game.  Falanx, huh?
Apparently I'm in the 20th FG 'Loco Busters', or so the legend goes.

An old squaddie of mine told me of a tower in the old tank town that if destroyed, you pull onto that spot, and when it upped, you were on top of the tower.  Never tried it but have no reason to doubt it.
Amazing you could actually recruit that much suck into one squad.

Yossarian you said just what I meant, I can't belive I didn't word it like that; well what I meant was that if you were to put an HE shell into the wall of a building then it would blow a hole in the building big enough for your tank but not go through the other side. One option would be to make it so an AP shell would just simply punch a hole in the wall, not explode a whole section and you could stick your barrel out. And that would make it so that if you do spot a muzzle flash or where a tank is hiding then you have a fair chance aganst it. To simulat the fact that the wall would slow it down would be to decreace the power of the shell by 1 cm or whatever is realistic.
