Ford Mustang guys
« on: May 19, 2009, 12:01:45 PM »
So I'm bitting the bullit, I ordered the 2010 GT. It's actually in backorder right now as the "track pack" is not available yet. On second thoughts, I might ditch the $1,400 "track pack", and get the $400 "3.73/dual piston brakes" pack instead with the "Scoops pack 5". I'll put my own rims and shocks anayway, don't care much for the GT500 lower arms nor those summer only P0s. I can add the Ford Sway bars later too.

Anyway, I know some here monkeyed around with their 05-09s, what did you do on them, how much $$$, did it end up being worth it?

... and no I should not have bought the Camaro SS, sure better performances but not too crazy about the inside/outside look  :)

Frenchy,

Is that you in the pic?  Also, is that out at the LHM Speedway in Grantsville?  Not much of a Ford guy myself, but some of those new Mustangs are damn nice, and I'm sure fun as hell to drive.

Yeah it was last week end at MMP
The car is ok to drive, 315HP is not too crazy. The inside is really tons quiet compared to the 05-09s, even on the freeway, but when u hammer it the engine comes alive thanks to the muffler/cockpit reonace box thingy. The interior looks way less plasticky, with a lot of warped leather. I digg the car a lot, will be a great lil daily driver.

Go get a test drive, they are free off course, I can PM u my sales women, she's pretty kick back on what u do when u "test drive" it :devil

I'll have to stick with the trusty Ol' Xterra for a while.  The GF (soon to be wife) loves Mustangs, but since we are in the middle of buying a home financing a new car wouldn't fly too well I'm afraid.  Sweet car though, I'll assume it's you when a red flash flies by on I-15.

Go with the Ford suspension addons before the power addons- the new-gens have enough power to get up and go, but lousy braking and handling when stock. I got an upgraded suspension on mine, and love it. The only power adders I've got are an aftermarket CAI and a new exhaust that hasn't been installed yet. I have more than enough go to get in trouble, but it handles a lot better than any other Mustang I've driven.

And look into lowering springs- the 05+ ponies look like a rollerskate from the side, they come way too high off the ground from the factory. Mine's lowered 1.5" and aside from being a bit stiffer handles much better and looks totally different- much more aggressive stance.

Think this one through, taking the better half to test drive a car that she absolutely loves with the intent NOT to buy it?  I guess I can kiss sex goodbye for the rest of my life.  I can see it now.. Never getting passed 2nd base again. It's quite a gamble!  Then there is the sacred oath I swore to never be seen in a Ford  ;).  Which dealership did you get it from?

Champion I15/9000S, tell Yvonne the French guy sent u.

Here's how u play it:

Honey, how about a lil treat this week end. I know we can't really afford one, but you love those Mustangs. I arranged a test drive of a brand new 2010 GT for YOU to test drive one, I'll seat on the right seat. Then we go eat somewhere and have "thank you" sex all afternoon.

That's how u roll dog, French lover style.

Sounds like a good plan, except that not even "Thank You" sex is worth letting a woman drive me around! I want to live!!!!!

I can't even afford to FINANCE $30,000. Maybe if I moved back home with mom and can put that rent money to the car instead....

The mustangs look nice. The new bottom end Camaro with a V6 has more horses and torque under the hood though.

Like I said, I was thinking of putting my own springs, did you installed the 1.5" from Ford Racing, or u used an another after market company? BTW, the 10 surprised all the test drivers about how much better the car handles compared to the 05s. They did a lot of work on this car to erradicate the complaints of the 05s.
