The system I built on 07

Anted Truepower Trio 650 watt PS
BFG 680i SLI Mobo
Intel Core 2 Duo E6600
10000 RPM 150 GB Raptor X HD (games)
7200 RPM 300 GB Western Digital HD(everything else)
2x1 GB Crucial Ballistix DDR2 800 (PC6400)
BFG GeForce 8800 640MB GTS Video card
Recently added
bluegears b-enspirer soundcard
Viewsonic VX2025wm 20.1 Widescreen Native Resolution 1680 x 1050

I'm thinking of changing to a Core 2 Duo E8500 ($190 Newegg) and adding two more sticks of the same ram I have now ($28 Newegg) for a total cost of $218.

I could also go with the same CPU and  OCZ Reaper HPC 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) which is $65 for a total cost of $255.

Or...a Core 2 Duo E8400 ($168 Newegg) and the OCZ Reaper for a total cost of $233.

Thoughts? Are any of the choices decent upgrades for the cost involved? And How much of a performance increase should I get?Somewhere in the neighborhood of 30-35% maybe?

I do not think you will see enough of a jump in game performance to warrant  essentially 20~25% of a new build.  Take the wife or girlfriend out for a real nice weekend getaway.

Yeah, considering your avatar, there's probably a better way to spend it, especially if you only play AH. I still get great performance out of my 5 year old box. :)

Sounds like good advice to me. A few more parts and you're talking new build.
