If you need a reward system to play the game, you are in the wrong game.

Playing the game should  be the reward.  For many of us, just the time to step into the cartoon world and pretend we're fighter pilots is enough.

I don't know about you, but working, taking care of the family, paying the bills and all that real world stuff takes up a lot of my time.  When i get to break out CorkyJr and spread P38G parts around the arena, I consider myself lucky to have found the time and appreciate it for what it's worth :)

I agree I just want some kind of reward system.

http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/index.php/topic,257345.0.html    Theres the link to the topic about smoke, ive tried to get it fixed I wish they would just do away with smoke.  It just gives people reasons to complain about those who can see through it.

I was upset the first time Belial and GreEric were going on about how they can see through smoke, and justified it by sayin it wasn't their fault.  I really don't care now, it just makes em more fun till kill when they are Cheech and Chongin it.

If you can see through smoke, know it's an unfair advantage, and keep exploiting it, you're kinda a British cigarette.

Wanting to get a cash reward for these actions just makes you a

I think if your the top pilot of a tour you should get a free months subscription, it would at least give some incentive.

Do you smoke crack?!

What we really need to do is just get rid of the top scorers of the month.
agreed.
We should stop ranking people, or giving grades in school, or cheering at sporting events.

Just derails the hopes of those that fail..

Getting a free month/year for ANYTHING you do in AH will change AH from being a game into a strict competition. This competition will not improve gameplay, it will simply increase the desire to do anything possible (spawn camping, vulching, flying timid, and staying above 400ias) to improve one's score.

AH is like golf, any improvement should be based on the individual and not when compared to a score sheet that is so easily manipulated.

I left for a year when HTC started the cash award for the highest ranking player, the change in attitudes was significant.

Giving awards for Tournament of Champions? Why would you want that environment anymore competitive than it is now? As it is too many feelings have gotten hurt and a CM lost his position because of it. Heck, you guys have to film your sorties because no one trusts each other. I'm still hearing rumors about people using Teamspeak to give squads an edge because it won't show up on films.

{sarcasm}
Yes, adding money to the equation would surely make AH a much friendlier place

When was the last time you flew in a TOC Del?  I don't recall seeing you there in the last 2 years....

You have to earn the right to fly there.  That weeds out 90% of the lame/gamey players.  The rules are there to promote fights and every round I've fought in has been a whiteknuckle Kill or be Killed situation.   The atmosphere has always been one of respect and great fights.

The invitee list is full of skilled, admirable dogfighters and seeing them come together is special.  But your right a cash incentive will draw crowds to such an event and possibly spoil it.

Competition isnt a bad thing though all of us have become better at virtual flying by wanting to do better.  Kaz's recent post about getting more structure to dogfighting, than hoping for it on a whim in the MA, got laughed at until HT himself said it may be possible.

I'm not good enough, I can barely take off and land much less get kills. I have popped in there to see how my nephew was doing at the event but I refuse to take part in one. Like I've said, I've seen a lot of bad blood in the KotH events, imagine if a cash prize was available too.

I believe Hitech was referring to H2H, where someone could start their own 'room' to avoid the masses in the DA. It would make both a great teaching tool as well as a great place for people to 1v1 unmolested. I've had many of my sessions with students interrupted in the DA because of some nitwit that couldn't accept we wanted to be left alone in the corner of the map.

I'm not against competition, but I don't want to see AH turn into a rat race where the end goal is the only joy one has to look forward to.

pffftt  your one of the best P38 pilots in AH.

the current scoring system is a rat race,   I'd rather see people competing in a dogfighting perspective than all round MA dweebiness.

what would be cool,  you enter the arena lobby you have 3 choices ,  1vs1, 2vs2,  SDL,   people assign team A / B,  once slots are filled, the host hits the launch button  and you have a locked down H2H arena.  Ranked ,  non-ranked.  The scoring setup would need much discussion.  :).

This would give the furballer type access to instant fights and the competitive types space well away from the MA.
