I'm aware of defensive armament, however unless you're aware of claims which have escaped my attention, the historical equation is heavily in the Mossie's favour.

Not saying it wouldn't be different in the unfriendly skies of AH though.
Well the Mosquito will probably have any bomber for lunch, but I think the He-177 might be a tough cookie!

Bombers in general tend to be meat for any fighter pilot unless the dude flying the buff knows what he's doing and goes high.  It all comes down to who flies smarter in the end and can really go either way.

Anyway, I'm for adding any heavy bomber to AH, especially giving one to a country that doesn't have a heavy to begin with or desperately needs a bigger plane set (Russia, Italy, Jpan)

Will the engine fires be modeled so about half the missions end on the runway in flames or shortly after in a smoky plummet to earth halfway to target?

Since AH is a game with no mechanical failures whatsoever, I'd venture a guess and say no.

Wow, it actually looks like a bomber instead of heavy attacker or kinda like a single tailed P38 with an enlarged head like the Ju88. I think I might have a new fav if this tub ever makes it into the game .

I honestly wouldn't mind random engine fires on my bombers as long as they had operational fire bottles to go with it.  I find its usually fighter jocks that tend to bring up engine fires on bombers and always fail to realize that hey, fighters had em' too.  Just picture this one...

You've got some fighter perks and feel like showing them off, right, so you take off in your Me-163 for a high alt intercept.  You get off the ground OK and you're moving right along.  You think everything's fine, everything's good, you got a nice, clear blue sky ahea.....  BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!  screw you and the 200 perks you just lost.    :rofl    :rofl    :rofl

You must have got quite the imagination for describing the He-177 as a 'P-38 with a single tail and enlarged head like the Ju-88' :lol

It think it looks more the RV-8 only bigger, with a Ju-88 nose and Ar-234 tail and less yellow :D

It's a beautiful plane.  My problem with it is that it will be introduced to work essentially on engineer projected specifications.  By that standard we should re work the P-39 which was advertised all out of proportion to how it actually performed.  I'd love ot see it fly, but not until after several other AC were introduced.

The Jerry bomber to model would be the Do-217 which was used by the Italians as well.  It was a multi purpose bomber that performed quite well and unlike most of the heavier bombers in the game actually did perform dive bombing duties when called upon.  It may not be a true heavy, but it was an outstanding aircraft with a good loadout.  I think it carried about 8k or more, could carry a wide range of items including anti ship missiles, they made a good radar-equipped night fighter verison, etc.

I believe it had some cannon as defensive armament as well.

Frank, I said the Ju88 looked simmilar to a P38 with a large nogin. (single tail, general wing shape, side profile mostly, I mean I can just see a silver Ju88 getting mistooken for a P38 at any respectable distance that still allows you to see the general shape) I never spoke a word about the He177 looking like one. Infact I said it actually looked like a bomber.

I don't mean to be rude, but you'd have to be under the influence to see a resemblance between the Ju 88 and the P38. They don't look anything alike.

*sigh weary from being needed much too often* Like I said "at any respectable range" I don't know what that is for you but for me it, like I said (well maby it was implied or something), I consider respectable ranges to start around the distance where you can just make out the shape, and the number of engines (I added the engines part but I still think it counts), and ends when you can make out the plane, moddel, and what color it is.

The general shape of the Ju 88 is nothing like the P38.

They both have two engines.  About ends there.
