Astrophotography: Solar Ha 6/13/09
« on: June 13, 2009, 05:21:01 PM »
Well, I got up at 3am to image the Moon.  I was hoping that I could get some prime seeing after the air had all night to calm down, but it was a bust.  The Front that passed thru still had the air boiling like mad.

I made several attempts but no keepers.  I gave up around dawn and decided to break out the solar scope and give that a try as soon as the Sun got up over the tree line.

For every 10 attempts I may get 1-2 images worth keeping.  Maybe some day when I'm become an expert, that might climb as high as 3-4 out of 10.  :)

Warning, fairly large image files:

Wabbit any chance you will be looking toward Betelgeuse any time soon? Some scientist report it lost some luminosity. Possibly switching fuels and dying. They think it may have even gone nova already. We may never see it due to the 600 light year distance.

That's not entirely accurate. If it went nova today, it would be 600yrs until we will be able to see it
