mmm a snack
« on: June 20, 2009, 09:25:08 AM »
Take about 8 medium sized potatoes and cut them in 4. Put them on some tin foil and add a healthy dash of olive oil, salt, pepper and whatever else you fancy. Close the foil around the taters and throw it on the bbq for 20-30 mins and enjoy bare or with whatever else you wanna throw on the grill.  :)

Yum for all ages :)

Skip the olive oil and put in a big dollop of butter. Potatoes always need butter, just like how soups always need extra salt. It is in all the books.

Yeah, we do it with butter instead of olive oil.

Hope you guys take this advice as I'm a certified master chef and been in the food industry for almost 10 years...

If you wanted to use butter instead of olive oil, probably better to use some kind of liquid butter substitute as regular butter will separate and burn if you put it on the grill..

Crisco makes a pretty good one called Professional Saute and Grille that you can get at any GFS in restaurant sized quantities (gallon or more)..

Or you could clarify the butter and use it like that which will give it a little bit higher of a heat tolerance..

That sounds pretty good.  Now if you grill you a nice 2inch thick marbled ribeye, burnt to a crisp on the outside, bloody as hell on the inside, and use those taters to garnish, THEN you got a real winner!

Are you guys allowed to have beef in urope?

I do something very similar, but I use oregano, onion salt, garlic powder, and a bit of rosemary.
