More Supply Routes!
« on: June 21, 2009, 11:43:25 PM »
We need more supply convoy's I.E. Trucks, trains, and boats, heck even aircraft.
In addition, we need different routes that they can take to supply the target. We could shut off these set routes too.
(i.e. being able to bomb out a bridge which will shut off a set route.)
But there should be at least 1 route which will allow a supply convoy to get to the target. But it might be the longest route. Since the bridges or crossroads of a shorter route were destroyed.

Please Expand on this.  :)

P.S. I wish the map would show the supply routes and roads.

Convoys of Merchantmen (2-12) or solo merchantmen.

It would also make port facilities extremely importnat and they would likely be far better defended as well in terms of shore batteries and AA.

But geez, think about divebombing ships in your Val, Stuka, SBD, or Kate.  Torpedoing with aircraft, skip bombing in mediums, raiding in cruisers and PT Boats.

By the way, I think a nice American light cruiser like the Brooklyn Class would be a swell addition to the game for it's AA siute and close in fire support capabilities as well as a lovely add for raiding convoys and ports.  Boise is below.

Boise from the air.

The Brooklyn's were sweet, but an Atlanta class or a St. Louis class wouldn't haunt my reveries in a bad way.

Also, some of the Japanese destroyers were about CLs in their capability--those wouldn't hurt my feelings either.

And if we did ever get a first rate CL fomr WWII, it would be about time ot model a steam launched plane which would one could pilot or send out on auto to search for enemy convoys for you to interdict.

Mostly I wish on a more complex supply system on the ground. Like 3 different supply routes per base. And say the convoy will take the route that allows supplies to reach in 15min. But it gets blown up so it has to take the 25min. route but that gets blown too. So it takes the route that cannot be blown out but it takes like 40min. to get to the base.

I still think they should work on the resource system first before fixing the supply routes.  Make it so there would be a negative affect to upping suicide missions or so that bombing strats will actually mean something by affecting that zones ability to fight.

It does.  It just takes more work than anybody is willing to do.  Get city below 50%.  Get ammo factory below 50%.  Pork ords on bases in that sector.  No ords for a loooong time without player resupply.

It works the way it is now.  It isn't taken advantage of very often.  It's more than a one person job.  The "win teh war" crowd could probably do it but they're busy.

But what if there was a system in place that limited the amount of NOE suicide lanc runs that you did because of resource limitations?  I mean, planes and bombs don't just appear outta thin air, their should be something that encourages a little more thought to planning raids than what we have now.  Why not a resource driven point system?

probably a lost cause but that's why they call it a wishlist...

Hey, by the way wrongway what movie is that with the tank shooting the paint round.  I saw it years ago but can't remember what it was.

But that's what I'm saying.  Take down the city for a particular sector then the ammo factory and then pork the ords on all the front line bases in that sector and there are NO bombs and hence no NOE raids unless they take off further back.

The movie:  Kelly's Heroes

That's still more work than most are willing to do as it would take almost half the country to up a bomber and simultaneously hit every ord asset on the other side for just one zone (that's alot of time spent not furballing for most AH players....).  Instead what if every base had a limited, but reasonably generous amount of ords that would be resupplied by the convoys and by players if need be depending on the fact that the ord factories are still running at 100%.  The same could be done for fuel, personell and even the aircraft themselves.  There is alot more to this idea of mine and it would take alot more explaining than what I'm gonna throw into this post but the end result would be aimed to encourage people to fly more responsibly.

I would like to see more roads without convoys between towns than we could use. (and a movement bonus for vehicles) Tanks and all manner of ground vehicles/personel ran on roads whenever possible during WW2.

Looking for things that don't really shoot back?
Maybe I could finally get a kill with torpedoes with out dying.
