Thanks Corky <S>
« on: July 01, 2009, 01:46:13 AM »
I just want to say thank you to Corky and the rest of the 80th for the 38 tips.  I had a lot of fun flying it, and quite possibly be putting the 51 to rest for a bit.   Now if I can just get the landings figured out...

not perfect...but I'll continue to work at it.

Thanks again <S>

It's our job to corrupt...er...preach the positive aspects of the 38.  I'd like to think my timely and flaming death was my way of showing you how not to fly the 38.

It does look like you've got the landing down however :)

I don't know who taught you the flying aspects but I see you copied Dan for the landings.

Your landing looks fine as SAPP landings go... except you have too many parts left on the 38.

The most important thing to remember is the FUN FACTOR.

I'm weird, I guess.... I get murderized by everything airborne while flying the '38, yet I find it to be about the easiest plane in the entire game to bring in for a "smooth as a baby's bottom" landing. Am I just backwards?

Fly it awhile and you'll learn how to use their sheer excitement against them. Or for the ones that think they have an easy target... you can leave them baffled.

Oh, I've been baffled/frustrated by '38's plenty while flying all sorts of birds... A6M5's, Spits of all flavor, KI-84's and Niks, especially making the mistake of trying to turn with a '38 more than 270 degrees while in a 190D.... can't turn, can't run.... only lived to get a kill in one of those deals once, and died plenty. It always seems to be the high 38 that dances on my head and I can never get co-alt/co-E. Totally defensive. When I do land a few rounds the 38 just soaks em up.

I love the 38, I just have aircraft A.D.D - I can't seem to pick one ride and stick to it!
