I can make changes to my video settings in the first page of AH but will not save.  Goes back to default everytime. (hitting ok to exit).

This sounds like the 'Vista' problem. If you're not running Vista then sorry if I'm jumping to conclusions but if you are see:

Just one little bitty note...whoever took those screenies and wrote that up...1875 MB video ram and he's only getting 59 fps? He might want to lower his video resolution a few notches then kick the adapter/monitor refresh rate to 72 - 75 Hz...he'll get much better frame rates.

I was having a few issues with the new terrains & was not sure where to begin as I am some what PC stupid. This is with out doubt the most constructive & helpful thread I have seen posted since the change. I turned everything off & just began over turning on things until I have a pretty good set up working for me. Nice job & thanks for the great help.
