Still grafic stutters with detailled terrain after Patch
« on: July 31, 2009, 11:24:59 AM »
I installed the 2.14 Patch 2 today an tested if my grafic stutters would stop.

They didn't. I still have the problem, that while flying the game constantly stutters while loading the "new" terrain. It gets worse if turning my head using TrackIR. This all with a displayed FPS of around 45 FPS.

I tried to reduce all grafic settings and texture size, but that didn't solve the stutter.

If i put everything to max and just deactivate detailled terrain i get a smooth and steady 55-60FPS

Well, the past days I've read a lot of topics with people having performance issues, and a lot of people solved theirs. I don't say everyone but most of them did.
I think it's already said a zillion times by now, but to everyone once more, rule #1; "Please, keep your system up to date!"
I think about 90% of the problems is related to outdated drivers and OS'es...

If I see this diag we can immediately tag:

- XP SP1 -> outdated -> Get SP3 incl. all latest updates
- Nvidia Video driver date 2007 -> outdated -> Get latest from Nvidia
- Realtek Audio driver date 2007 -> outdated -> Get latest from Realtek

So I would suggest to take care of those things first and then come back if you have any issues (left)... G'luck!  :aok

And then there are the many of us who run very clean systems, have all the latesed updates and drivers, have tweaked every setting tweakable, and are still stuttering.

The problem isn't w/ the systems.  There is a bug somewhere that HiTech hasn't found yet.

Yep, that's why I'm stating that this counts for 90% of the systems. An updated and clean system should be something to start with. Apparently the system of the topic starter isn't. You cannot conclude that it is not a problem with the system if it's running an outdated OS and drivers...
For what's it worth, all is running fine on my system after updating to the latest Nvidia drivers...

Update of the drivers didn't change anything. Which i already knew, else i had not posted here.

Reading through the forums, i see that i am in good company with that problem and it seems to be still an issue with the new terrain.

For Microsoft updates go to control panel and you will see an icon Automatic updates, click it on and turn on auto updates. To do it manually goto: http://update.microsoft.com/microsoftupdate/v6/default.aspx?ln=en-us.
For your video card drivers most have a place to select in their control panel to check for updates, click it and follow the screen prompts. Best I can do without a DXDIAG posted.
