« on: August 01, 2009, 06:40:59 PM »
Everytime i try to take up a B-17 the screen starts to flicker and i can hear the engines start up but the screen is frozen and blinking in the tower.. Ive tried the other bombers and i have no problems its just with the B-17. Any Ideas?

I used to have that problem. Was a combination of Video and Sound driver issues. A DxDiag report might aid in determining if you have a similar issue.

1) Make sure you do not have the "Detailed Terrain" option selected in Options->Graphic Details->Advanced.
2) Make sure you are running the game in Windows 98/ME compatibility mode.
3) Make sure you are runinng the game with a "Maximum Texture Size" of 256, in the game's "Video Settings".
4) Try not to run the game resolution higher than 1440x800.

See what that does for you.

Wait a minute.

Your computer has less than 1GB of RAM.  There is no way for the game to run reliably.  Vista needs 1GB of RAM for itself.

Take a look at your page file usage: Page File: 1118MB used, 934MB available
I am assuming that the DXDIAG was taken when the desktop was idle.  1.1GB of swap is already being used.

It should have been criminal to sell a laptop with Vista to begin with, but to offer it with less than 2GB of RAM is just wrong.

I am surprised you can run much of anything without extreme sluggishness.

I cannot make a recommendation.  I just know that less than 1GB of RAM is a problem.  Whether it is the actual problem is hard to say.  It could simply be a contributing factor.

Backup your AH folder.
Reinstall the game.
See if that works before you put back any backedup file.
