Depleted uranium?
« on: August 04, 2009, 12:50:11 PM »
Whoa....I always knew, my Tigers are second hand pieces but this is a little too much :rofl
Take a look at this short film:
http://www.rubricum.com/files/wonderghi.ahf
Just few pings of Il-2 blows it up. No earlier damage. Tiger was fresh up from VH.
Really, there must be something badly wrong with the damage modelling...

How so? He shot at less than 200yards into your top armor...

Let me quote Tony Williams:
Quote
The powerful 37x195 ammunition is quoted as penetrating 48mm / 500m / 90 degrees, enough to pose a threat to the side or rear armour of virtually any tank.

Tiger has top armor of 25mm only.

The top armor of the Tiger I was only 25 mm thick.

Edit: Lusche beat me to it. :)

It had 25 mm of armor underneath too, so no. ;)

I have done the same thing(with Il-2  against tigers) looooooots of times without any effort. Pnzrs are pretty easy to cork with Il-2 but Tiger is "nuthing"
Thatīs why I wonder...

Learn from the film you posted. Though it looks a bit weir due to lag, you can see Ghi is getting very close and approaching quite steep.

If you have mastered that and are looking for the next challenge, take a Hurri 2D. :)

Strange. Ive never seen film of a tank kill without being able to see the actual hits in slow mo that caused the kill.

I know GHI is real good in an IL2 and no doubt killed it in one pass. But I slowed down the film and didnt see one hit and I looked from several angles.

Heres a more typical attack on a Tiger. It took 3 passes of actually hitting him. He was running full speed on very sloped terrain, and I had enemy fighters to think about. But you can see all the yellow to red money shots it took to kill him.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GWSy-FvCuBU

Here you have a pretty good example of what I explained earlier in H&T forum. It's lag. We can only see how things looked on Zuum's FE (screen), as it is his film.
Zuum is located in Finland. I'd guess hes having a ping time anywhere from 150-220ms. GHi may have 30-60ms perhaps. Both add up.  That's enough to result in a noticeable disparity between both player's screens.
Would GHI post his film, you would see the hits.

I try to get a few kills in it each tour, but with Wirbels all around, I have rarely the opportunity.
