Allied Decorations for Tacloban Frame 1

The CiC wishes to announce the following decorations have been issued for the operations of 7 August, 2009:



Presidential Unit Citation

13MPG and 364th CHawks: For leading all Allied squadrons in objects destroyed. 13MPG and the 364th each destroyed 39 objects as a squadron at their assigned objectives.

Rolling Thunder: For leading all Allied squadrons in total victories, downing 27 aircraft of the enemy in defense of their objectives, and preventing the loss of any vessels at task group 77.



Navy Unit Commendation

Claim Jumpers: For making the top three of all Allied squadrons in objects destroyed.

Nightmares VMF-101 and Lynchmob: For making the top three of all Allied squadrons for total victories.

VF-17 Jolly Rogers and VMF-251 The Buccaneers: For preventing the loss of any vessel during combat action over C76. The enemy recorded only one successful hit, inflicting only minimal damage.



Air Medal

TexsTC, (Mighty 316th) shiv (Rolling Thunder) and Vlkyrie1 (5th Air Force): For the downing of five aircraft of the enemy.



Marine Corps Expeditionary Medal

Drazz (VMF-251): For participation in combat action on the surface, by commanding task group C76.

Yes, congratulations to all the above.

Now, how about those Letters of Condolence to the members of (+) Precision (8xB25c) and Hellcat Fighter Group (8xF4u1a) that went into a11 against 29 fighters?

We use gold award stars for multiple decorations (and service stars on campaign ribbons, etc) which is also appropriate for the Navy Unit Commendation:



Gold Award Star: For the second and subsequent of a decoration received.



Silver Award Star: Given in place of every 5 Gold Award Stars.
