dot report won't work no matter how many times you use it, if only one person uses it. Either it was a mass-report (you can check the logs) or it was a "friend" admin on at the time.

Moderators (unless their from HTC) can only mute for a certain period of time and you'll see a pop up message window (just like with the auto-mod) saying  you've been muted for 10 minutes. 

Regardless, SkyRock was spot on that this is probably one of the gayest things a group of players can do just because they got shot down.
