Does anyone else wonder if HT gets annoyed when people whine about how dumb he must be, while spelling his name incorrectly? It's like calling someone "sutpid"- you may feel better, but you look dumber.

You missed this above your post Hub.

killert5 : Sorry you having trouble.

As for this , good luck finding your trouble, with this attitude don't expect any help from me, if we happen to help someone else and it runs for you, you will be lucky, I have absolutly no desire to help a guy with your attitude and accusations.

People are still having issues with your product. You may not hear about it because in these forums they tend to fall on deaf ears, and receive ridicule from those that are not effected by these updates, but let me assure you that we still exist.  Instead of focusing on adding more shrubs for eye candy, or increasing the frame rate of those that are already running the gamer in Hi-Def, why don't you focus on making the game more suitable for everyone, not just the elite few!?.......

Just a though....

Funny...I have a 5 year old eMachine M6805 laptop loaded with integrated video and a 1.6 Mhz chipset. As I was hoping to use this rig for the upcoming AH Con, I loaded the game 2 days ago (Patch 6). With everything max'd out I was getting mid 20's frame rate. Turning the detailed terrain/water off jumped the frame rate to mid 50's and the game was very playable. So much for the "elite few".

No Im dead on.  The update information is in the readme file and the game is having serious issues now.  And oh, it took 2 minutes and 27 sec for someone to come along and prove my last point.  If we speak down about the game on here then we're wrong.  This is America, I'm free to speak my mind......

Patch #7 allowed me my first steady 60 fps no matter what. Even around large bases with heavy fights, and multiple fires burning.

So while Im all for free speech your experience simply isnt mine. BTW who is this "elite few"? It cant be me cause I have a 1 year old puter and work 3 jobs to stay afloat.

No, your not "dead on" ... your a fool ... and it was your last paragraph in your original post that proves it.

People are still having issues with your product. You may not hear about it because in these forums they tend to fall on deaf ears, and receive ridicule from those that are not effected by these updates, but let me assure you that we still exist.  Instead of focusing on adding more shrubs for eye candy, or increasing the frame rate of those that are already running the gamer in Hi-Def, why don't you focus on making the game more suitable for everyone, not just the elite few!?

Who is in this club ... "the elite few" ... that HTC is catering to ? I guess from your last post, you think that I am one of them. HTC knows nothing about my computers so I don't know how they could make the game more suitable for me.

The foolishness is then even more evident when you imply that maybe HTC would be conversing, behind the scenes, with "the elite few" and making changes so that this very small and exclusive club can run the game with no problems while the other 99.99% has problem. A twelve year old could see the foolishness in that logic.

If your having a problem then take to the Bug Forum and tell them the problem ... coming to GD and making a fool of yourself is not needed.

I have to laugh "killert5" has a very good point . This game was fine before the patch . And yes if you do complain about it the ELITE seem to pound on you for it . However if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck its a duck. But for some in here it is turning into a goose. The goose that layed the sour egg.

I can understand HTC in need to keeping up with the times. The ability for the younger generation to go out and purchase "xbox, wii or plays3. The graphics on those machines are unreal and if you are going to keep up you need to keep up in that sense. After all that is why you buy those type of consoles.

BUT for those that are flying in this environment (PC) I believe they are not in need of that . They are looking for the fight, the adventure of playing with a squad and  flying older aircraft without bells and whistles. after all it is a WWII game.

Geting back to the original complaint .
I agree with KILLERT5 the updates are killing a lot of fun time..
But I believe if HTC was give a good a detailed reason as to what they are attempting to accomplish and fix with the patches then alot of this would be a moot point . Also an explanation for each patch . Perhaps they have it but not detailed enough

I'm nowhere near xbox type and I want the new graphics.  HTC isn't binging on new xbox graphics.  Xbox type eye candy is wasteful because it abuses stuff like bloom and bump mapping so that the graphics get in their own way and in the way of the game as a whole.  That's not what AH is turning into - the graphics are still very old school.  As simple as they can be kept.   Look at these:

Do you see anything fancy in these shots?  There's nothing but the minimum to reach a certain visual quality.  There's no motion blur, no bump mapping that looks like lego, no lens flare, nothing but good models with simple shadows and a few other lighting techniques.   Now look at this:
http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/index.php/topic,272034.0.html
could do the top one with 14 polys - with alpha texture for rails instead of 3d rails...

bottom one with 27 polys, if you use 10 sided cones.

2800 polys  is a little high :)

Less is always better.

I think there's a quote along these lines: "Anyone came make the simple complicated... creativity is making the complicated simple."

That would be ok if you were doing an entire airplane. For a tower it is about 10 - 50 times to many.

The key to modeling is less is more. Also you must is what is it used for. If no one would ever see the handle rail from closer than 100 Ft, what is the use of spending many faces on it.

The other thing that drastically effects performance is number of state changes, I.E. just changing 1 color or texture on some objects can make them take twice as long to draw.

There never is a hard and fast number of how many to use, it is always use the absolute minimum you can use and have an acceptable look.

HiTech

And more of that in the linked thread.  Does all that sound like they're aiming for excessive eye candy?  No way.  And it's all optional anyway.  You can just switch it off and fly the old graphics at more fps than the previous version.  So, in fact, if anything it's making more players happy; once the bugs are fixed.  And there's ample precedent for HTC fixing bugs.. There's no support for pretending they're not going to.
But I believe if HTC was give a good a detailed reason as to what they are attempting to accomplish and fix with the patches then alot of this would be a moot point . Also an explanation for each patch . Perhaps they have it but not detailed enough
It's all in the news subforum.  There's a thread for each patch and a change log either in each respective thread or main website news entry, or with the patch download as a text file.

There you're wrong...the "elite" are those who have the high priced uber gear and they rarely do more than wrinkle their noses and laugh at the whiners...they're more interested in what's going on with their experience and if they have an issue, they don't post little kid tantrum fit whiner post in the forums...they either email support or post a thread describing their issues in the appropriate forum, without the stupidity.

I have an average system...not great by any means...experienced the same issues as many here have through every patch...and to most here I'm a noob...but you won't find a single whine "I want my game" post by me anywhere.

BUT for those that are flying in this environment (PC) I believe they are not in need of that . They are looking for the fight, the adventure of playing with a squad and  flying older aircraft without bells and whistles. after all it is a WWII game.
The bells and whistles is what keeps people from seeking their "super ace pile-it immersion" elsewhere...and if you do a search in these forums you will find a lot of posts where people have quit because the game has lost it's appeal because nothing has changed...same old graphics...same old mechanics...same old terrains...HTC has done exactly what they should have done to retain and improve their customer base...the really dedicated people who know the limitations of their hardware and accept that change needs to occur in order to improve.

Geting back to the original complaint .

If you want "reasons" for each why each patch has been made...just look in the AH Bugs and Technical Support forums...all the information anyone needs is there...the explanations as to what was changed in each patch has been posted on the main page as well as a readme in the game directory on your hard drive...that is all that is required and all that any game company does.

Fact is anyone who posts a thread like this dweeb Clutz deserves to be slammed...by the entire community...not only is it disrespectful but it's childish to the maximum.

Listen, I hate to say it, I really and truly love this game like no other.  I also have a very low end rig that I keep overclocking both the processor and GPU to sky high rates, just to play at 30-40FR MAX (average at 25).  I knew I was on the cusp of having to get another system to keep up, which I am doing.

But, that being said, it's been a full month of "getting better".  Reality is, many people aren't logging in to fly at this point, regularly.  Beta ran fine for me....and every version except six has run horribly, a fact which I know I'm not alone.  If there were things they wanted to add or change (which obviously they did between beta and 2.14), it would have made a lot more sense to run a longer Beta session, and fix them there, not with your true "product".

Instead, this game is still a work in progress.  Mind you, this isn't a complaint.  HTC and staff are working their arses off trying to fix their product, and should be commended for their commitment.  But, also, it should be noted, that most people don't pay for "works in progress"(in regards to functionality) indefinitely.

Many people don't express it correctly, and get piled on by the "elites".  But, I have a feeling that this is how many are feeling.

(lol and this post is my "leet" post(1337)... how fitting)

There's no elite and you can't fault devs for breaking eggs to make their omlet.  This isn't EA where there's enough resources to do a thorough enough WIP debugging in private.  Just relax and wait it out.  They'll fix it asap.  What more could you ask for?

If it was something like my car, I'd ask for a new mechanic when, after a month, he said my alternator would be fixed "as soon as possible".  Pretty sure most of us would, by day 2.

As it is, it's a computer game, and not nearly as important.  I assure you, the spouse has found many things with which to address my "new found free time".
