A couple of Typhoon questions
« on: August 27, 2009, 12:58:24 PM »
First, I apologize if this is the wrong forum for this I couldn't decide between here or the Aircraft & Vehicles forum.

Second, thank you for another great aircraft update.

1.) It would be nice to have the flap position indicator as shown below;

2.) I guess this my be a limitation of the aircraft model, but the documentation I have says bomb shackle should not be present on the wing when the RP rails are installed.

3.) The same goes for the M10 drop tanks

4.) This next one is a little more complicated and I don't have enough detailed info to back this up so I'm just asking your opinion. But looking at this chart from a Saber IIA Typhoon with a 3 bladed prop, I think the fuel burn might be a little high.

Specifically looking at the box on the bottom left under Rich Mixture, I ran a test offline with the fuel burn set to 1.0 and ran a test at +7 and +6 boost. For both the 5k and 15k test offline I got 228gph at +7 boost and 208gph at +6 boost.

Is the new Typhoon modeled with the Saber IIC engine?

With the current model in AH there is a 9.8% fuel savings by reducing the boost and RPM per the chart. Looking at the chart there is a 21% fuel savings at 5,000 feet and a 13% fuel savings at 15,000 feet. I wish I had info from a 4 bladed Saber IIA but I haven't come across any yet.

Thanks,
Baumer

Just out of curiosity, why a flap indicator? You can get the gear down well before the flaps, and if you're fighting slow enough to have the flaps out in a Typhie you probably won't have time to look at the indicator.

Well the two reasons I was thinking of are;

1.) It's historically accurate

2.) I understand your point about the slow speed, especially when in a dogfight with another plane, however I've been practicing with the rockets to attack GV's and I've lost track of where the flaps were from time to time.

It's not something that I'd consider to be a big deal, but I was just curious if I missed something in the cockpit that was already displaying the flap position.

The Typhoon is very capable of being a low speed fighter once you learn to deal with the torque

I must have overseen the flap indicator..thought I put in that indicator that's in the picture.

we'll fix the hardpoint issues.

Thanks Waffle, sorry to be a pest.

The new Typhoon looks great, I really appreciate it. I'm sure the Werbi and Osti drivers that keep killing me enjoy the pretty fireball as well!  :lol

Lower right on the main panel, look for the yellow vertical rectangle. You'll see a pointer go up to the top when you start the engine.
