Go figure....
« on: August 29, 2009, 05:04:33 PM »
Well,I got my Quad core CPU and mobo today,I hooked it all up,and was booting it up getting ready to see just what it could do,but I log in and Windows needed to be re-activated. So,I spent about 20 minutes telling numbers to some automated piece of crap on the phone that apparently dosen't understand english and got it working again. Only problem is,my background is gone and some programs won't work right like AIM. Anyone have any ideas as to why this happened?

So just re-install the programs that don't work right...and reset the background.

Wait wait wait...so you expect to use this thing for online purposes (like AIM), yet you can't activate it over the internet?

Something's hinky here.

Well,I got everything fixed, internet, personal settings/files,etc...  What happened was this: When I installed the new mobo the date was not set and was at the year 2000,I changed that and now everythign works fine, lol

In that case, keep your eye on it for a little while. Next time you shut your computer down overnight and restart it, go into the CMOS/BIOS settings and check the date again. If it reverts, you'll really want to replace the little battery on the lower half of the motherboard. If it's dead, your CMOS/BIOS settings will revert every time you shut down the computer. They're usually very good quality rechargeable batteries, though, so it's probably not the case. Just sayin'.

Should've posted in "Help and Training" forum.
It is not the end, it is not even the beginning of the end, but it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning.

I've heard that if you drop an F-bomb, the machine will automatically switch you over to a real person. I have never tested it, but would be funny if it was true.
