B24J's
« on: September 05, 2009, 10:57:58 AM »
Anyone else notice that in the last week or so, that bombers catch on fire alot easier?

If HTC changed lethality, made them easier to kill then change it back the ftr dweebs need bombers harder to kill, not easier.

All the more reason we need the B-17WW!

On a serious note, I have not noticed any easier kills on B-24's.

Shoot a B-24 between the fuselage and #2 or #3 engine and it catches fire.  It has always been this way.

I killed a formation of B-24s using just the 12.7mm guns on the Ki-84 that way.  I'd make a run, set one alight and then pull off until it had gone down, then come back for the next.

It takes a surprisingly small amount of fifty cal to light off a supposedly leak resistant tank....

I have lit B-24s up by firing just sixty rounds of .303, then got out ran in my puddle jumper.

B-24s in WWII acted the same way. Stop your whining.

That actually is "a" weak area.  If you take the wingtip off, the bomber is unflyable and it will crash.  I'm not sure whether taking a wingtip off of a drone will cause it to fall out of formation or not (I don't think removing the elevators from a drone effects it enough to fall out of the formation, but if the pilot takes control of it, it's doomed).

Honestly though, shooting from a high position down into the "shoulder" area of the B24 sets it afire easily, and it's a guaranteed kill.  And it's a larger target, and if you screw up your aim you may hit the cockpit for a quick kill too.
