How about a new billing system?
« on: October 02, 2009, 07:41:59 PM »
Currently, the billing system is about $15/month. However, Some people (like me) are only able to play after coming home from work,  at most 1-2 hours a day. I was wondering if HTC would consider the option of pay-per hour, so that those people who desire to play on an irregular basis can still keep their accounts functioning and pay only for the hours that they are actually online. What do you think?

I think 50 cents a day is just fine.

What about those guys that fly in excess of 100 hours a month? Are you going to make them pay a couple hundred dollars/euros every month to fly their dreams?

You're making the choice to spend $15 a month. Whether you actually fly your moneys worth is up to you.

HT/Pyro's last sim was $2/hour.  I think $15/month is a steal.

Aces High I was $29.95 a month at first. They dropped the price about the time Air Warrior died.

And to add to the bonfire, There are a lot of players who exceed 100+ hours a month. Do you know how much that will cost them just to add a simpler billing system? $15 is a steal compared to other flight sims.

I'm in the same boat, really only able to for a couple of hours each night after I get off of work but paying a flat fee of $15 a month is far better than paying hourly.  I used to play another flight sim many years ago where sometimes I would have to pay (depending on the peak times) $12 an hour and if lucky would be as low as $6 an hour.

In the long run, flat fee is far more inexpensive than an hourly charge.

The only advantage you might get from an hourly rate is concerning score] when the guys that cant afford to fly but 15-20 hours because of an hourly rate have to stop flying after the second day.  :D
If you like the Sick Puppy Custom Sound Pack the please consider contributing for future updates by sending a months dues to Hitech Creations for account "Chalenge." Every little bit helps.

I think, if you bothered to read his post, that he is asking HTC to implement a second billing system.

It would not effect anyone who did not wish to pay hourly rate....

I played during the $2.00/hour days.  It is very easy in an hourly billing system to run beyond what you budgeted.  All it takes is one good night when you're flying Sierra Hotel sorties and you don't want to quit.

Keep it simple.  Fifteen dollars a month is easy to budget.  You know exactly how much they're going to charge you and what day it's taken out.

If your budget is so tight that fifteen dollars is too much, cancel for a while.  No shame in that.  I just came off a whole year without online access because money was tight and AH is lower in priorities than rent, electricity, gas, water, and school lunches.

Just have it at the same rate. If 15$ a month equates to about .03$ per hour when paying for 24hrs then you pay 3 pennies per hour you play. Really not that hard to figure out....

there's so many wrong things about his .03 cent calculation.  there's fixed costs that ah needs to cover, rent, electricity, heat, sheep.  add to that a profit, as all business do, and the hourly rate would be many times more than the .03, or jack up the rate of the flat rate to make up for the loss..  it would actually end up costing you more than the current 15 flat rate if you played more a few hours.  think of the current fee like a hotel room, u dont pay for the amount of time u use it (be 30 seconds or all night) , u pay the daily rate.

semp

just a thought, if ah would be so kind as to bring the sheep back.  more people would be motivated to call off at work and play.

Yes, but all I'm saying is you wouldn't pay hundreds. I wasn't saying the rate should be 3 cents, I was just using that as an exapmle.

But that is a good idea, a daily rate for every day you play. hows about 1$ a day sound or 15$/month. The rate is doubled, HTC stays in business as long as people don't start suddenly playing once a week.

And while were on it, why not make it avalable for debit cards? It would help a lot of the squeakers out there....

     Helping squeakers.....oh the horror  :D

When I started flying AW on GEnie it was $6 an hour unless you started
during their primetime (before 18:00) when it went up to $12.  The new guys
don't understand how easy we have it now.
