The two squirrels were both females, if you did not notice.   One was the local dominate female, and the other one was challenging her for dominance.

I tell ya man those Grey Squirrels are dangerous. Almost as bad as the Armageddon Gerbils.

I believe those are "Golden mantled" ground squirrels. They are neat little creatures and very friendly towards humans. I trained one, over a period of time to take a peanut out of my shirt pocket.

I'm still rather fond of the black squirrels that have begun to invade my area from Canada. They scare the %$#@ out of people the first time they see them.

Neither did I until I stumbled on that picture and did a little research to see if it's true.  The Eastern Chipmunk (which is the type in the picture) favorite foods include: nuts, buds, berries, seeds, mice, frogs, insects, bird eggs and human brains.
