Wanted: BROKEN CH Combatstick and Ch Pro Throttle
« on: October 24, 2009, 05:05:59 PM »
Yes, you read that right.  I'm looking for a broken CH Combatstick and a broken CH Pro usb throttle.

The power supply in my computer died about three weeks ago, and when it did, it sent a jolt through my usb subsystem that fried my mouse, my joystick, my throttle, and my (Saitek) pedals.

CH Products would fix my joystick and throttle for almost the cost of buying ones brand new, so that's out.  Replacing all three of my controllers brand new would cost me nearly $300 that I haven't got right now.

If I can cannibalize a broken but electronically good throttle and joystick, at least I can get the controller boards out and replace the fried controllers in my joystick and throttle.

I guess if someone has a broken Saitek pedal that is otherwise good electronically, the same offer stands.

I'd be willing to pay $25 plus $5 shipping for each broken (but electronically still functioning) controller that I get.

Let me know if you have any of these.

Thanks!

Which boards do you need from the Prothrottle? I just might have some from when I built my dual throttle.

Not sure.  I'll open it up and see what board looks like it has the controller chip that governs the interaction with the usb bus.

I'll let you know.   :pray

There are 3 boards; one controls the mode setting, one controls the buttons and one controls the pot and usb interface.

I could be wrong in what board does what, but that is the layout.

Ok, I opened up the throttle and had a look.  I never would have guessed that the electronic guts are all located in the handle, but I guess in retrospect it makes perfect sense.

There is a board maybe three inches long or so in the handle that has a large asic plugged into a socket, and two smaller asics soldered to the board.  There's also an electrolytic capacitor and bunch of the small resistors of the type that are made for manufacturing circuit boards.  There are plastic sockets into which wires are plugged, coming from the buttons and other controls in the handle.

I believe it is this board with the three asics that got zapped in my throttle.  Replacing that board would probably get me back up and running.

It's hard to imagine that you'd have one of these left, Delirium, but it's worth a shot:  is this one of the boards you have lying around?

I lost a couple of eBay auctions yesterday for a throttle and pedals.  Didn't see a Combatstick auction.  I'm very much contrained in how much I can get away with spending to get my controls situation sorted out, but I'll keep trying.

I did the beta frame for the latest scenario last saturday using my ancient MS Sidewinder joystick that I gave up for my CH controls over three years ago, and it really, really, really, really sucked.  Arg.

That is the only one I don't have a spare of.

Sorry... I do have extras of the other 2 tho.

Hehe, yeah, I was hoping, but wasn't counting on you having one of those.  Thanks for looking, bro.

I'll keep looking for cheaper options to get back up and running, and hopefully fairly soon I'll find a way.  It just sucks these controls being perfectly fine mechanically, and yet they're dead as a doornail.
