I'm just going to straight up ask him his name and gtry and get some confirmation.

My only concern is that if it's true, he may not want all the attention.

I asked a few of my squadmates if they believed it, and they never asked for confirmation, but stated his stories are consistant.

You don't know the names of the guys in your squad?  Are all of the squads like that, I mean, is that the norm around here?  I know all the Musketeers names, but we have a private mailing list, not an online forum.  I know we have a different kind of a squad, but not knowing the guys you fly with seems kinda crazy to me.

If he wanted to keep his privacy, he wouldn't be telling war stories.  Why tell the stories but not reveal your identity?

surely he can understand doubt over a 94 year old fighter ace playing this game.  I would love to believe it's true.  Over.

To every man upon this earth, death cometh soon or late.
And how can man die better, than facing fearful odds.

I only know of two that had experience in WWII and later flew in AW or AH and one of them isn't around anymore.

The other is still around and is in JG11. He is an incredibly humble and respectful guy, so out of respect for his privacy I won't mention his name.

Thank you Del.

And he won't be with us forever.  We thought we were losing him after this tour, but he has signed on for at least 6 more month's as he wants to share his next birthday with us and be active in JG11 on that day, for which we are not only thankful, but honored as well.

"...he may not want all the attention"

Then he never would have said a thing if that was the case.

"My only concern is that if it's true"

Maybe. Slim chance though. I think the real reason you don't want to press
this player is ..."I would be sad if it's untrue.."

IMO you WANT to believe he's a bonifide ace from WWII  (" I really think there's
a chance he's for real" ) and there's absolutley nothing wrong with that but
deep inside you  know he's not.  And we do too.

Been there.  Done that.  Got the "I"m with gullible" t-shirt as proof

Well heres a true story of a vet playing:

My grandfather was engineer / bombardier on B-17s in the 97th BG, 341st SQ.  He flew from Africa and Italy.

He always got a kick out of my brother and I playing Aces over Europe and Aces over the Pacific when we were young.  He would have us show him how to land on a carrier and try it himself every now and again.

He has about 10 mins experience with AH2.  I showed it to him to show how much better the games have gotten since 10 years ago.  We took up a b-17 and talked for a bit but had to leave for dinner with the family.

So there you go.  A real ww2 guy that has played AH2.

so its 10+ victories now is it? last I heard it was 5 or 6. I'd like it to be true but I'm not convinced. I've heard 2 genuine vets take him to task on this and he wouldnt respond.

I dont think this is a trivial claim, either its true and he deserves our utmost respect, or its untrue and he deserves our contempt. isnt it a federal offense to impersonate a vet?

Honored only begins to say what he brings to the squad.  :salute

Watched him flame a guy last night, and I love when this happens. You will not find a better spirit in this game, or a better singer!  :airplane:  :noid

I know of who you speak frodo, stampf and truly he is a class act.
He makes no claims (that I've heard) other than being in a certain place doing a certain job at a certain age. (quite young)

I too am truly honored to call this man friend.
And after watching him for several years will gladly vouch for his veracity and honesty.
Indeed am willing to stake my entire AH reputation on him. (There are not many I'd say that for)

He is a joy to share the sky's with. Whats more he is perhaps a shining example of how best to interact with people in an online environment. He is grace personified, class defined, honesty and integrity brought to life.
