Fooled around with the pony, doing sustained silly-turns - hard rudder, opposite aileron - try it for a good bellylaugh.
Flew inverted with no ill effect - shouldn't the engine blow after a while? oil starvation? - and performed an outside loop. ROFL!
Pushed it into an accellerated spin later on and did the usual thing.. stick neutral, opposite rudder. No effect. Hahaha. OK, still at 15K, was thinking that the pony should right itself even from an flat spin... stick neutral, no rudder... whizzz.. apply rudder... whuz...... <kaboom>

Oh, and I flew a Jug on just the wingstubs for a minute or more... level on the deck and with enough manoeuverability to keep it so... come ON fercrissakes

DO the same tests after tomorrows patch and post here!  I appreciate these comments

I read a story from Greg Boyington about one of his boys doing a strafing run on a *jap* airfield (hey, call em as I see em) and this guy got so damned low during his run that he was forced to fly his F4U between two palm trees!  He sheared off 14 inches from each wing and still brought it home

my favorite is the guy that dived into the ocean with his P-47. He bent back the outer 6" of the prop and broke off his tail wheel and elevator flaps. Still made her hom tho- what friggin fantastic plane!

Yeah, both old bent-wings and the jug were sturdy craft... but missing 3/4ths of both wings and still flying level at 350 ias must rank as less than convincing, natch.

Actually, I think the graphics are the real problem with the wing damage.

The graphics currently show almost all of the wing gone which would be almost impossible to fly with. If the graphics were changed to show the wingtip torn off for wing damage it would be a bit more realistic.

RangerBOB you are correct!  HT has said that the graphics are merely a representation that damage has occured.  Perhaps they can either 1) adjust all art to show outer 1/3 gone as opposed to 1/2 or 2) create all future art this way.

brmbrm, have you had a chance to try these same manoevers since the patch?
