I just leave it in "auto" mode.  And I would bet that 90% of all pilots just leave it in auto mode.

The only exception I can think of, is the AUX fuel tank in the P-51D mustang, which should be drained first.

When flying any Fw I drain off the aft tank first, then flip it over to auto. If you leave it on auto it'll drain the front tank first. This makes the plane ass-end heavy; something I'm not fond of.

BTW XJazz,

As the fuel burns it not only affects the weight of the plane overall, but also changes your center of gravity.  Fuel is modeled extremely well in AH, and it's one of the great advances in WWII flight sims IMHO.  So yes, it is modeled, and it can be very important in combat.  If you want to see for yourself, get your buddy to grab a Pony with 50% gas, and you take 100%.  Then dogfight.  Now switch roles.  You'll see what I mean.

The only plane I really mess with fuel management in is the C.205. I burn up the small wing tanks first, then put it on auto. Other than that, I let it alone.

Why is it that in some of the aircraft always auto drain the auxillery fuel tank first before any of the others? There should be a way that we can set a tank to auto drain or an "Auto Tank Switch from a tank of our choice.

I still wait to see a fuel transfer option. Nothing worse than getting pinged in your main tank and watch all that fuel go away when you could have transfered it to your empty AUX tank.
