Forced induction is always fun, nitrous was fun too, but always having the power on tap is better.

The problem is I have to be coordinated to do that :(  one of these days I will go to a driving school to learn to do that stuff, I'm sure the poor little cones would appreciate it :pray

 :rofl

teach yourself dude. it's not really that hard. you can practice it in normal traffic.

when you're de-accelerating, drag the brake lightly, clutch with your other foot, and give it a quick throttle snap, as you pull the shifter down a gear.....and release the clutch.
it's actually a lot easier than it sounds.  :aok

learning that single thing, will more than likely take a LOT of time off your laps.

The only time I saw you leave your perch and peek below the clouds was ...

I escorted squaddies into 199 once but I got distracted shooting down Hitch in his B24s (who turned trying to avoid me and nearly intercepted our bombers IB for the CV at 199. Whiplash was BNZ on some low bish who asked me to help them so I let the last of Hitch go to help them. On the way out CaptMerc zoomed in to kill a squaddie (he was 2k above me and trying to kill our lone Ju87) but when I zoomed to near his alt he ran after blowing his one chance on the stuka. Boxboy (Yak) came in 5k above us (23k) and you (P47N) at 19k (3k above me when I first saw you). At this point I had ten minutes of fuel remaining and I was running 2400 rpm but you managed to get killed in the time remaining. The reason you both died is you wanted to make it a 2 on 1 instead of both of you going for the 1 on 1s offered you. All altitude advantages I had are what you gave up not what I started with. Once I even had you locked up with my throttle off watching your flick rolls and distance between us shorten until you split-essed for MY home. If you had gone home it would have been fine but you wanted to double team Colt44 near our field so my P-51 on fumes helped finish you but really it was you that augered doing the evasive moves. If you had tried to turn with me I think Pops would still have gotten you but nice try! I think you should have just dedicated yourself to engage and you would have been okay. Your plane had all the advantages but you wanted even more and helping Boxboy seemed to be your mission in life.

So unless you amazingly happened to be at the edge of visual range JUST as I was reversing to attack Hitch (a total of 5 times?) I cant imagine where you get the idea I was flying like you report.

not ctually. you don't have to drive fast, or corner fast. just "heel/toe" as you're de-accelerating to a traffic light. you can use these times to get the basics down.

i also should mention it's easier or harder depending on the positioning of your pedals.

in my mustang, it was very easy, as the brake applied lightly was only about an inch above the gas pedal....under heavy braking, it was just about even.
in my dakota, the brake pedal is 2 to 3 inches above the gas.....makes it much harder, but i've got it figured out.

now....would i tell a new driver to try this stuff in traffic? helllllll no!! but i know bigrat's a bit older, like most of us, and he seems to have common sense......

Just to make a point... two days ago I was ranked 173 in fighters and in two sorties of high altitude bomber interception I moved up to 50 and then one sortie the following day to 40 something so even though some might think it hurts your 'score' (not that I care)... I dont think so. Yes you (and I dont mean YOU DrDea) can kill faster in base defense but killing fighters is not the primary mission of fighters and as a purist I go where my mission leads me and not where landing lots of kills or instant gratification calls. I also dont see how intercepting high bombers is 'ruining the game' but I think thats a lame agenda speaking there.  :D
We all know you can count on score to prove but 2 things. Jack and crap. And Jack left town. Killing buffs is fun.At any alt,but to spend the majority of your time at 30K or above, and claim fuel mileage as a part of the reason is laughable. Your in a 51 and worried about how much fuel you have? Funny stuff.
