Posted the sides. Was tough as almost everyone but a few Axis squads requested Allied. My apologies to the squads that requested Allied but were assigned Axis.

I have had a few PM's asking about how we divide up the squads so just an FYI any squad that was Axis twice in a row went Allied unless they had requested Axis. Any squad that was Allied twice in a row went Axis. After that I looked a preferred rides and slotted several for Allied. Finally I just divided up those remaining and had to pick a few that were just Allied to Axis, and finally any that had not updated their info went Axis.

Point of order sir, question...IMO...shouldn't the axis side be outnumbered? Is it too late for a squad who has an objection to their side assignment to request a change? I don't mean my squad, we won't fly anything but axis in FSO but if a squad wants to be allied and was assigned axis, is it too late for them to get the change if they request it?

I'm just wondering is all, I know how much work goes into these setups and changes make things a bit more difficult for the CM team but...my squad won't cry if you put some more allied targets on the list.

Personally I feel if a squad has an objection to their side assignment they should probably look for an offline game to play. I don't think the CM team needs prima donna's in FSO, those guys put a huge amount of work in for our enjoyment and I don't think anyone should make their job harder.

Too late to change sides, even too late to change your squad commitment. A week before the first frame we have to lock it all down and go with what squads have listed. CM's have to assign sides while trying keep it close to the percent split they are shooting for and try to give squads with dedicated rides those rides. Then look for CiC's that are due and try to match them up. LOL Takes quite a while. 

Ask ten and you will probably get ten different answers as how to balance this setup. IMHO the Axis are outnumbered. The Allies have to use at least 90 heavy bombers, (30 pilots). That is a lot of large targets to counter. So I opted for about 50/50. Currently Allies have 215-293 pilots and the Axis have 214-291. That does not count the extra drones at least 30 Allied pilots will have. Of course you never know how these things turn out. I certainly have had my share of FUBAR designs.

Technically, they will have at LEAST 270 bombers in the air, because you gotta count drones. Most likely more (that's the MINIMUM), which already outnumbers all of the axis from the get-go.

I bet the allies sure would have loved to have an escort fighter for every trio of bombers in flight... They'd never have lost a plane in WW2!

If you dug into the numbers a bit, I think you will find that there was 1 escort for every three bombers (at least) during the late 44 thru 45 time period.

But not with every bomber, not all the time. Rotating shifts of fighters means that only 1/4 to 1/5 the entire "escort" was near the bombers at any one given time, and when they were, they couldn't cover the entire bomber stream.


Seems another thread has addressed the poor phrasing of the description. You might assume it means "30 pilots" -- but the write up means "10 pilots with 3 planes each" -- lowering the bombers a bit. Still doesn't address the LW having to fight off as many US fighters that fly faster and better and higher as well as trying to hit bombers.


IMO seems like more of a landslide for the allies, from the write-up.
