Apparently you're not alone.  Kari has been quite prego for many episodes.  Actually I'd imagine (given the delay in shooting to production) that she's probably had the kid by now.  They brought in what I would assume to be an intern to fill in the token good looking nerdy woman role so that Kari can go on maternity leave.
