Forza 3
« on: December 13, 2009, 01:19:11 PM »
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I bought the Xbox just to play this game.

o my

Ok I will take minute, ..

.. my baby blue '68 ZR-1 is sitting at LeMans, setup for class B/500 race today .. later this month I have an R3 spec race for the world championship ..think I will take out the McLaren for that one altho the Porsche is fun also..

Immersive?
If you're a gearhead like me ..   ..   O heck YA.

You earn cars by doing well in races, either by earning enough credits to buy one or the manufacturer awarding you a car for just plain smokin the AI.

You can paint 'em, tune em, .. soup 'em to the gills.
I have a lot more awareness of what it's like to drive one of those 1k hp twin turbo C-5's ..on the old Mulsanne Straight it showed 240mph into the braking zone,
..on that old two lane hiway it was like going lightspeed ..holy CRAP that thing is a *rocket*!!
.. I had to put a wing on it because the back tires just aren't enough
..even with the wing you cant go full throttle until 100mph or the tires just fry, and they're the biggest slicks I can hang on the back

I built a '68 blown Hemi Cuda in game .. it is unmanageable.
Wild.
Front end starts hunting badly at 160+, no front spoiler avail.
I actually took it out, went back to the 340 .. LOL

My '71 Hemi Challenger does a lot better, can actually race it at 200+ altho you have to be on top of it at every moment and it required all wheel drive to do so.

I even did a what if on a '90's Honda Civc Hatchback ..turbo charged S2000 motor, rear wheel drive,
..it's a frikkin beer can!
.. will do over 200 and it even handles well.
Like the vette tho, you cant punch it till over 100mph.
Just cant get enough bite in the back

Just got the hi sign from the pit boss, time to race,

I hope all of you and yours have a great new year

Wow, sounds like a great game, how does this compare to Gran Turismo?  I was going to buy a PS3 when the new GT comes out, but I may opt for the Xbox and this if it is as good as it sounds....

GE, I have it also, ususally don't like race games but this one is an absolute blast.

Have you bought the wheel and pedals? They are reasonably cheap in Yurope (66€) and I'm amazed by the immersion that you get through the wheel. You really  feel your ca

dumb finger ;)

You really feel your car loosing the grip through the force feedback. This is the first game where I think that tha force feedback is a great addition and not a gimmick.

The kids love the game too. Against all expectations, my daughter is doing really great on the track with a Cooper works mini (that she took hours to paint ;) ).

My wife and I bought a Wii system a couple years ago for the kids.  We've bought quite a few games, spent a fair amount of money.  But my 6 year old daughter's favorite activity seems to be making new versions of the little people that you use for your characters in the games.

I have Forza 3 on xbox, it is so real it actualy scares me. There is nothing else that even comes close. Gran Turismo falls far behind in my opinion, as do all other racing games.

Currently my favorite car is a 1995 Subaru 22B with a rediculous 210k credits put into it. Brand new engine, race tires, fully adjustable suspension kit, the full works. Although it does not need the adjustable spoilers as this thing sticks to the road with the stock aero. Works very well for A-class and some R3 races, even more fun is setting up the dampers and springs to stiff and flying round the real life road courses sideways.  I sometimes get online on xbox live and my Id is o0fink0o (o-zero-fink-zero-o). Send me a friend request if you want to swap some paint jobs or tuning setups, or just race!

And I don't know much, but I do know this. With a golden heart comes a rebel fist.

I got Forza 2, and I love that game. Play it all the time, and I have 100 different types of cars and what not. My favorite is probably the Lamborghini, even though it isn't too fast on the acceleration compared to most of my other cars.

If yer into cars at all ..watch some of the trailers on Forza's site for F3.

It just *rocks* on an HDTV.

I hear ya about spendin a ton of credits earned on 'stuff'  .. I just bought the '68 Hemi Daytona and sunk a days credits into 'stuff' for it.

After Christmas I will sign up for Xbox live gold so I can upload pix an paint jobs .. I spent a day doin a few paint jobs,
.. nothin real fancy, just stripes an such the way I remember the cars on Central way back when.

The Daytona in our neighborhood when I grew up had a flat black hood and the 'Daytona' emblems on the wing and hood just above the right headlight ..not on F3's. Gonna have to find a pix an make one  ..no way to put it on the side of the wing AFAIK,  ..but she does look *good* lowered, on American Racing wheels, in B-5 Blue with the biggest slicks I can stuff under it :)

She drifts her back end out a bit at 180 or so in the corners, have to drift 'er a bit and easy on the steering inputs or she'll swap ends onya :) Cranks a little over 200 in the straights ..fun stuff :)

-and the sounds .. ooo-yaaa.

Big Forza fan here  :x

My chick got it for me fir Xmas, so I haven't played it yet. I did play Forza 1 and 2. The Forza series is much much better than the GT series, althought I stoped at GT4, dono about GT5. On PC I run iRacing.

You are talking about HDTV, that's how I play racing games ... and AH.  :

I never stopped playing Forza 2. Im still unlocking cars. Forza 3 is even better. Graphics are amazing, and you can catch yourself clenching your butt checks to hold on when you do 100+ around a tight turn trying to take the AI on the outside. I think its better then GT hands down. Not to mention the car companies allowed Forza to put full damage models on their beauties. Nothing like wrecking a car that most of us will never own.

Been hammering on Forza 3 the last week or so ..

-very evil grin-

Earning an R1 class car, I took the R1 class Peugot uber racer around the Nurburgring ..

Ok it’s a little bit more than yer basic Vette or any other street legal car,

..but I posted a 7min 18 second run from a standing start without smashing the car to bits

Full simulation damage turned on, auto shifting, anti-lock brakes, no auto brakes, no stability control, and full guide line (because no way am I gonna remember all the braking points J

It’s a bit hectic and ‘fast paced’ in an R1 car, the thing has over 1k downforce just on the rear tires, and almost 1k on the front,

..but you can still get way sideways in a heartbeat .. just a scary fun ride!

-just sayin

I would say as a PS3 owner Forza destroys Gran Turismo, I've never played Forza but the fact they have a full game out it gets the win. G.T. only has a Prologue out a is like 4-5 years late and i don't see it ever coming out, even if it does it will be a total let down.
