Whilst the label on the door says flight combat simulator what it is generally about is vehicle modelling be they Gv's boats or planes. There are loads of FPS/RPG games out there.  My view is that this game bests limits its players to driving stuff. If the role of infantry is increased then I would prefer it to be AI troops with predefined tasks being dropped off by player driven vehicles.

It becomes a sort of WWII mechanised warfare sim which naturally fits with where its coming from. (Dunno about the WWI stuff  (it never really drew numbers in AW)but it will be a pleasing distraction)

+1 for Tilt's idea. AI squads performing menu based predetermined tasks would be better than what we have, easier to develop and upgrade into the current system than putting effort into FPS and is more in line with this communities style than FPS. Imagine the infantry squad as being your ordinance....you get to pick your ordinance type at the hanger for every other type of mission.  You could even use the same hanger interface as is currently used for ordinance selection. Pick a squad to attack; hanger, ord bunkers, fuel tanks, flak emplacements, town buildings etc.). Take off and drop your troops/ordinance where you want to attack and watch the fireworks just like any other ground attack.

What about the 1,000+ rounds of .30 caliber ammo in my wirbelwind?  Those troops would be cut down before you could say 'Alamo'.

They are actually 20mm rounds, and there's 3000. :P

AH2 game stats for Wirbelwind:

20mm ammunition = 3200 rounds (800 rpg)
7.92mm ammunition = 1350 rounds

Spikes, you forgot the bow mounted anti-personnel mg in the hull.  :salute.

That's what I was talking about, why waste your precious 20mm rounds when you can cut them down with your long range lawnmower instead?

In fact, that thing is so useful that I once saved a base from disaster when I took out troops in a flipped over wirbelwind.  That's why you see those hull guns!
