Fuel loads
« on: November 05, 1999, 05:06:00 AM »
Just wondering if it would make more sense to give fuel loads in gallons/litres rather than percentages?

Been reading Gatt's flight tests and 75% fuel on a Pony wouldn't even fit into some other plane tanks. We're making sure that the climb rate of a certain plane is spot-on to the second and arguing about extra 5 kts of speed but quote %% of fuel load when comparing planes performance?

I might be wrong but it makes very little sense to me.

I'm pretty sure that in RL it would be "take 200 gallons" rather than "take 75% fuel"...

Just a thought...

Every plane got a different fuel load, so the easiest way to set fuel is with percentage. This will tell you how far you can go with your fuel. A FW 190 A-8 had a maximum range of 900 kilometers with full fuel load (100%). If you take 100% you can got for the total distance.
To make it complicated we can have liters or gallons. If so, you will do the calculations for me!   agreed?
