COMBATSVSL2?

COMBATSVSL2

Anyone know what this means? got it a couple of times along with a message in my text buffer. I believe it is auto-generated as it came from different players, I think.

Also does the <S> from the ".s name" dot command show up in the players direct PM text buffer or on 200?

Looks like you got a PM from another arena - maybe one of the special events arenas?

The <Salute> that you send via ".s playerid" will show up in their text buffer on whatever text channel you sent it on.
If you want to send it via PM, you have to do it like: ".p playerid <S> dood, nice fight" and it would show up in his white PM buffer.

Actually the ".s <playerID> dot command is to salute another player and is broadcast on channel 1 which is a public channel that everyone sees (although for general chat purposes it is disabled in the late war arenas).  Think of it as channel 200 that everyone sees regardless of whether they are tuned to it or not.

you probably got paged from another arena which is ".p <playerID> text" in the text window and can be used to talk to someone in another arena, in which case it tells you where that player was texting from.  As flatiron says I think in this case it was the Axis vs Allies

That is the arena I was in when I received it, I just don't understand what it means if anything.

No it doesn't, any page you get in game will have the senders gameID and where it came from since it can cross arenas.  For instance you could page someone in Late War Blue from the AvA.

it means someone in that arena sent you a private message.......

if one is to continue with another in private, when you reply you will see your gameid on the left and then the message you replied with, when the other person replies, it will show up with the Arena:gameid: <then message>  unless you are "tuned" in a radio channel to a specific gameid, then you will not see the Arena at the beginning.... ( unless as Soulyss posted, you are in different arenas )

also, once you have established a PM message with someone, you do not have to continue using .p<space>gameid<space>message here method.....you simply type .r<space>message here....

edit: also if you are in different arenas, you will not be able to tune to one another on any radio channel....... you must use the .p command to "page" or send the "private message"......

hope this helps......

"When one considers just what they should say to a new pilot who is logging in Aces High, the mind becomes confused in the complex maze of info it is necessary for the new player to know. All of it is important; most of it vital; and all of it just too much for one brain to absorb in 1-2 lessons" TC
