Just an idea, but I THINK that there were some 'choppers used in Burma and that region in the very very late stages of the war. From what I can remember they were used as troop rescue and possibly deployment. A new way of infiltrating drunks perhaps?

Of course I could be wrong...

lol.  I suggested helos in Air Warrior 3's NewsGroup, and I ended up having to defend myself until I was blue in the face.  (I had some help, ofcourse.)

Problem is that helos weren't very reliable during ww2.

But, yes, I would enjoy choppers for some kind of ground support roll or something.  But, it's going to be a loooong fight to get 'em.

I would love to see a chopper in AH. It would be one of those things that made it individual. It would also attract a whole lot of people who love to fly helli sims.

The USAAF had a "operational" (I use the term loosely) Helo called the R-4 in at least 1943 (as far back as I can document on short notice.
from AAF:
R-4 : Designer: Sikorsky. Main rotor with 3 15ft blades. Engine: Warner 180hp. Approx speed: 90-100 mph. Weight: 2500 lbs. Length: 48 ft. Approx. range: 100 miles.  Crew: 2. First sucessful flight: 13 Jan. 1942.
The theroy in 1944 was that the Helocopter would be useful in Liason, Recon, and Rescue rolls. Whitch brings up the point:  If we could get one in AH, What would we do with it?    (don't get me wrong, though, I think it would be neat.)
