Posting on hacks.
« on: January 08, 2010, 10:35:05 AM »
1. HTC takes hacking extremely seriously. Any form of hacking can damage our business.

2. HTC Bans anyone caught hacking.

3. HTC Has in the past and may again in the future pursue criminal or civil prosecution of hackers.

4. The rumoring of hacking is just as detrimental to our business as people who actually do the hacking. We have in the past and may again block the people propagating the rumors.

5. HTC Will never state what we do for detection, all this would do is give people who wish to try more information.

6. Speaking about hacking on this board servers no purpose for players or HTC, it only both damages peoples fun in the game and our business.

7. HTC Has never stated that it had not been nor could be hacked. We simply state any discussion of the topic of hacking will not be tolerated.

8. HTC Has 15 years of experience in dealing with hacking of online games. You do not stay in business by ignoring a critical issue like this.

9. Because the rumor of hacking is also so detrimental we also may ban people simply for speaking about it because it can hurt our business.

10. As always if you believe some one is hacking, film and send to HTC, we look at every film of this type the same day we receive it.

11.  We do not publicly or privately talk about the outcome of hacking reports.

I am leaving this topic open but if you are going to post I would suggest you tread very lightly

We ask your help in this matter of squashing & not partaking in the RUMORS that come from occurrences like this.

mornin,

not trying to tell you how to run your business.......just offering a suggestion.......

i perfectly well understand why you don't want this subject talked about here.

what i would think, though, is that when something like this comes up, possibly a post of XXX was caught attempting to hack this game, and has been banned. along with this, all of their information has been turned over to the appropriate authorities for prosecution.

nothing about how they tried, or how they were caught....just their name(public shaming can be a powerful weapon in the fight against this), and that they WILL be prosecuted for this.

if people are seeing that you mean business, they're more likely to move on i think...and with absolutely nothing here concerning this, they can't see that.

again, not trying to tell you how to run your business, but rather offering a suggestion.

See # 11.
To do other wise would do nothing but , Would only fuel more rumors and accusation, and also because a possible repercussion against HTC in the case we were wrong.

Cap1 postin gonline id wouldn't do anything. like guys who lose vox or always causeing trouble they change names. and i'm sure posting a persons name doesn't do anything since everyone is behind computer screen.

2nd like everyone posting some accouse people of hacking i get it once a week.
but I too thought i caught guy hacking. was sure i had with film on ,he was invisable killing me  and i could not see him at all. game didn't show name in film but i got message XXXXX killed u. And it was a bug on a new map he did nothing wrong. I had to come back boards and apologize for bellybutton U ME ing.

they handle things right with out saying what they have done. And I know this personally. seen them act i didn't need to be told they did this or that.......

pm me i'll give you example and then i'm sure you wouldn't cast doubt what they are doing.

Thank you Hitech and the rest of HTC for addressing this, I know you take this very seriously.

I do have a question / comment about #11, I understand your reasoning and position on not talking about it publicly, but I can see a couple of benefits to addressing it privately. This may all ready be done and I apologize if this is how you handle it currently, but I think the community would feel better if they knew they would get a private response for handling this appropriately.

For example, if someone sends a film in that they suspect someone of cheating and hear nothing back, they may feel it's not been looked at or addressed. This might lead to more suspicion and increase the likely hood of complaining about it on the boards.

However, if that person get a response back like;
A.)This is being addressed, Thank you.
     or
B.)After reviewing the film nothing was found to be wrong.
Providing that kind of private response would go a long way to improving the confidence of the person who sent it in.

Again, Thank you all at HTC for providing a great game and a fun community to be part of.

I did a little wet work for the "Company" during the storm in 1991. I would be happy to offer my services to HTC for a small fee.  :noid  :rofl But seriously now would be the perfect time to release the WW1 arena as it would give us school girls something else to blabber about.

HT you have a great game and IMHO #1 to #11 make perfect sense to me.  :salute
