$400 gets you the best flight stick you can't move
« on: January 10, 2010, 03:41:45 PM »
Looks interesting. No more pots. The stick responds to pressure.

Saitek and Mad Catz are exploring the future of flight sticks, and motion was not invited. Force-sensing technology is what real pilots use, and for a price, you can give yourself an amazing level of control over your flight simulations.

The Saitek X65F looks very appealing to me. However, $400??? My CH setup cost less.

If I remember correctly - F-16's had such a stick to begin with, but the pilots didn't like it, so it was changed to have some movement.

Doesn't Airbus feature this type joystick? Not necessarily the design, yet the concept of pressure-sensing.

I was intrigued until Saitek was mentioned.  I'll take my CH over it anyday.

Yes, this is true. The very first stick in the F-16 didn't move at all and the pilots didn't like it one bit.
It actually might of been the YF-16, I'll have to ask my dad. He worked on the YF-16/F-16 and was the person who told me about it.

Having worked at Mad Catz, I would never buy any of their poorly made products.

They were poorly made, cheap parts and most of their stuff that was manufactured in China and Mexico.  As the senior PC tech at the time, the first 3 hours of my morning every day was spent calling irate customers complaining about the products.  Quit after 3 months, didn't want to work for a company that didn't give a damn about their products quality.

Did someone mention something about computer hardware????? I saw something hard but it had nothing to do with computers.

"Which gives you perfect control over your thrusting..."

Well honey I don't know what control you think I would need but I seriously doubt I could control much with you in there while I was playing with your hardware!  :joystick: :rock :devil
