Glad to hear it's a good movie. I was wavering on whether to rent it or not since hollyweird tends to ruin military movies.

My step-father served a tour in Iraq, 2005-06. UH-60 Blackhawk Crewchief & Mechanic, Combat Search and Rescue. After watching it, he said it was probably the most realistic war movie he's seen in a long time. During the movie he even commented saying the showers looked just about exactly as they do at Camp Victory.

I only saw the last half of the movie, but after one glance while doing laundry, I sat down and watched. It was great.

I appreciate his service to this country.  I've 3 generations of military service in my family...  I only see "real" war on You-tube, friends & family's pictures, or other video's that I've come across.  They seem way more "real" than the Movie... But than again, those videos and pictues are actually real.

I completely agree though, the Film was well made.  Check it out if you haven't yet.

I have a few EOD buddies who felt the same way. I haven't had a chance to check it out yet.

I'm surprised that they actually went to see it since they live it. Although I was also surprised when my grandfather went to see Flags of Our Fathers, by himself... only movie he's been too in 20+ years.

Good movie though. Did have a few follywood moments but they way they filmed a lot of the shots made it more "gritty" and realistic. I saw it in the theater and will probably buy it.

I know this is a old thread but i didn't want to put up a new one.

I watched this movie last night, and I wasn't that impressed. I mean it was good don't get me wrong, i'd watch it again, but i don't see Oscar winning material in it.
I thought the movie way too short and I went away wanting to know more. He had 3 days left in the tour, and BAM!, he's in a grocery store back in the states?! Then it ends with him back in Iraq walking down the street.

I didn't quite get the part where he goes to the house and a woman runs him off WTF was that all about? Anyway, I thought it was slow on action, short and mixed up on story line. It just didn't live up to the hype for me.  I was expecting Platoon and got Desert Commandos instead

He was looking for the parents of the kid that sold the DVD's to him & ended up getting killed and turned into a corpse IED.

No, the boy was the corpse, that kid you saw after selling the DVD's was just some other kid selling them now. 

As for it being his parents I don't think it was.

Found it pretty boring, typical Hollywood imho.

Personally felt Black Hawk Down was better, but then I might have had a different opinion in I had served there too.

It was just another kid that the guy hired to sell DVD's for him, go back and watch it, I'm pretty sure that it's 2 different kids, but I could be wrong.

Ok I looked it up and you were right, it wasn't Beckham, this is from IMDB.com's FAQ section on the movie.
