DiRT 2
« on: January 18, 2010, 11:19:32 AM »
Anyone else tried/own it?  Dang it's a fun one, and I now know why I play racing games on ROADS.  Gah, off-road racing is hard as crap in this game, I'm getting better at steering but it's still insane.
Sure does look purty and is fun as heck though! :D

Gotta say, I've used Flashback more in a few hours then I have the brakes!  Every time I think I have a turn down I screw it all over and have to go back to try again....and again...and again.
Gonna wear my poor Steering Wheel out at this rate, Right turn: turn in and sharp left to keep stable then sharp back to Right so fast I can hear the thing moaning.

I own it, it certainly is amazing. I especially love the Rally races, more specifically Rally Croatia and Morocco.

I've played the demo and was very impressed by that.  The graphics are great IMO.  I'm hooked on rFactor at the moment.  :x

yassir .. dirt track racin is about stabbin and correcting ..not a lot of 'smooth' steady input as you react to what's goin on and try to maintain a line :)

Lookin forward to it :)

Figured if anyone, you'd try/have tried it, GE. :)

Certainly a lot of quick reactions, but at times a smooth turn can work...just very rarely.  Trying to beat a 1v1 right now, My Hummer vs a Mitsubishi, and dang is it hard to keep that thing from sliding into a wall. :D

Try turning a bit harder than you usually would, getting it to slide while facing the corner and turn the wheel in the opposite direction and do a neat little slide past, all the while maintaining high throttle control. Load of fun.

I love drifting the Subaru's, facing the corner a few feet away from it, and sliding right past it ready to accelerate into the next straight  :aok

Just to get GE droolin' :P

Sorry 'bout quality,W7 won't let me take Screen-shots of the game (only game to do it), so I had to use a camera.

Also, Eskimo, this is why it's so bloody hard to steer, and not hit walls...
It's much easier to steer with a keyboard (don't have to worry about little corrections), but this is so much more fun. :D

Been thinking about a good driving game for the PC, and I can't decide between DiRT2, and Need for Speed: Shift. I might just but both games.  :)

Well if you can only afford one right now, I'd suggest DiRT.  NFS: shift was, personally, the only one to really disappoint me in 10-11 years of playing NFS.  It just felt weird when trying to drive...maybe I'm picky, but unno maybe I need to try it more.  The day it switches from its original fun to anything "Nascar"-ish is the day I give up all hope on them forever.  At least for now they still have more then just Left Turns in the tracks.

As for DiRT, some more fun :D   ::

Do not try these moves at home, Xcel Inc. is not responsible for injuries sustained during the recreation of these moves.  These moves are to be kept in the game and not taken to the streets.  Any recreation of such acts is punishable by law and time in prison.  Thank you, have a nice day.  :p

one of the things I useda get a real kick out of in GPL, hangin it out on the long sweeper at SPA in an Eagle, watchin the guardrail zinging past my nose and using throttle to keep inches off it in a full on drift ..tuff to do right but oh so much fun when it works :)

..thanks for the images .. it's on my list ..right after I get a joystick! -grin-
