I understand that you guys did not want Axis again in the Pacific. I have to say that we are just not setup to follow those kinds of details when it comes to assigning sides.

Did a little digging.
Went back 5 months and unless I am mistaken Jack your squad was:
Allied – January
Allied – December
Axis – November
Allied – October
Allied – September

With that in mind I teach my Admin CM’s to do the following when they divide up squads. They have been doing this for years.

1. Any squad that has been Axis twice in a row is automatically Allied. (unless they want Axis)
2. Any squad that has been Allied twice in a row automatically is Axis.
3. Look at dedicated rides and place squads with their ride if at all possible.

After the above three steps are done we have about ½ the squads left to deal with. Squire did exactly what I would have done. Placed your squad Axis as you have been Allied twice in a row. In fact out of the past 5 months you have been Axis only once. With Allied being predominately requested side you really should be quite pleased with the results.

I am sorry your IJN again, but your not getting the short end of the stick here. You guys have got what you requested 4 of 5 times. ;) A better ratio then most squads.

If you don’t want IJN again just start requesting Axis more in the other theatres as Saxman suggested, then come a Pacific setup you should be good to go.  :salute

Look...it is what it is...If you mean that we have gotten Allied 4 out of the last 5 times....then yes we have.  Have we flown IJN the last 4 out of 5 IJN FSO's?...The answer to that is yes also.  We could argue this up one side and down the other.  This is not just a rarity with just our squad.

2 Sheets of paper or  1 page for each squad.   Remove the request Allied / Axis box and here is your format.  You could plan it out 6 months ahead of time and you won't have guys like me crying and wetting the bed at night over which side were on.

Type of Event    Allied  Vs. Germany                Allied  vs. Japan
   FSO ###              Allied                                   XXX
   FSO ###               XXX                                  Japan
   FSO ###            Germany                                XXX
   FSO ###               XXX                                  Allied
   FSO ###              Allied                                   XXX

I'll throw it together on spreadsheet...and would probably take a total of 5 mins to keep track of for the whole community.

I think the point is if you want allieddurring PTO's then request that. and durring ETO's request axis.

Remove the Allied and Axis request box?

Then just alternate squads to a side with no consideration to what side they may want, or their rides?

That would go over real well. ;)

Then we could conceivably have an FSO where the Axis squads (who want to be Axis) are all Allied and many of the Allied squads (who want to be Allied) are Axis. How could that make sense? With more squads requesting Allied every month is make no sense to ignore those that want Axis most of the time. Your suggestion would actually satisfy fewer squads.

Its a better game strategy to ask for Axis about 1/2 the time, then when you see a setup where you really want one side over the other, you stand a better shot of getting it. Dont just ask for Allied all the time. We cannot possibly accomodate 2/3 of the squads asking for Allied every setup. At that point, we just have to start looking to see whos left to assign Axis and plug them in.

Also, in the future, if you want one side over the other *that badly*, an email or PM is perfectly ok with me. Try giving me some notice im not unreasonable. The answer still might be "no", but it cant hurt to ask. I cant possibly know the entire history of every squads FSO assignements in every setup type we run. We dont track that, and we dont want to have to.

Regards.

Here's a post Daddog did for the FSO community.

Dec – Admin daddog - Europe early 1945
Jan – Admin Stoney – Hungary or Eastern Front, summer 1944
Feb – Admin Squire – Japan 1945 or a Solomons 1943 design
March – Admin Ghostdancer – Greece 1941
April – Admin Baumer – Early North Africa

He did this from a request from The Bug for upcoming FSO events.  DD also said this schedule was tentative and not written in stone due to map changes from the recent change in strat system.

We AK's looked at this great bit of information and made some long range plans for the Feb FSO.  We banked on a Japan set up for 1945 that would include blue water planes.  We requested Axis for both December and January and flew them both for Axis.  This choice made it easier to request Allied and receive that side assignment.

It's just a matter of long term planning. On that note, can we have an updated FSO schedule please. :salute

The 412th rotates between Axis and Allies every event, unless the P-51B/D is available, then we request Allies.
There must also be a flyable computer available for Nefarious to do FSO. So he doesn't keep talking about it for eight and a half hours on Friday night!

I was going to drop the subject because apparently, I'm out in left field on this one.  But what the heck....

After more and more threads were posted on this subject...I realized I was not reading the "Side Preference for Current/Next FSO" correctly.
Didn't realize how "strategic" everyone was about their selections.  Explains a bit more...pretty much wasted two years in FSO before that was explained how that "system" works.   Hopefully some of the newer FSO squads will either read up on the forums or pick up on how the "system" works.

If squad "A" flys  for the Allied in an Allied vs. Germany event.  The next Allied vs. Germany event then they should fly German.
If squad "B" flys for Germany in an Allied vs. Germany event.  The next Allied vs. Germany event they should be Allied.

I understand how people would get upset with a set up like the one above, they couldn't work the "system".  I just find it hard to believe that with 45 squads (minus the one I'm in)  ....44 squads change their requests for Allied vs. Axis every scenario.

Not every squad changes their preference every month.  Its a known fact that Stampf's squad flies axis exclusively, with the rare exception of when a certian allied plane becomes available, then they will in all likelyhood request allied.  I think there a couple other squads as well who are axis when Luftwaffe aircraft are involved.  So looking ahead is well worth your time and effort here as Kuya stated.

Hope this does help you out and the situation can be avoided in the future

Yes, a few more dedicated Axis units would be great.  I am sure the USNavy guys would appreciate that.   Axis is always short requests in the Pacific.  So we volunteer to fill that role, in consideration of the fact we also always request Luftwaffe in Europe.  Additionally, in 4+ years of FSO, one could count how many times we have flown Allied, on one hand.

JG11 always offers to switch sides, on the rare occasion we request and are assigned Allies in the Pacific, with any squad requesting Allies and getting assigned Axis.  That being said, we will gladly fly for the rising sun, again this month.  Great set up it looks like.  Should be great.

FSO is not meant to be a tit for tat Axis one week, Allies the next kind of set up.  This is about Squadron Operations.  Some good advise was given about how to plan your requests.  It also does not hurt to put up a respectfully worded post to the CM team.  They tend to work with everyone around here.

Good luck to JG11 in Frame 2. It's gonna be a tough match (still trying to "win" my first frame. I would have last time out if not for some illegal rearms :furious :furious :furious ).

Frame 2 Axis C-in-C, confirmed.   :salute

The Unforgiven were kind enough to swap frames with me, after I learned that my wife had bought me a birthday present of tickets to see John Mayall the night of Frame Two.  So I'll be absent for Frame 2, and C-in-C for Frame 3.
