Awesome show and some incredible flying!

It certainly gives me confidence in the low speed/high AOA handling characteristics of the Super Cub!

Granted my dads is only a 135 HP but the fact that this guy was able to snatch it around like that without it departing is pretty cool. It's full weight and doesn't have any high lift devices, makes it even more impressive. The 180 HP engine helps quite a bit though!

Was surprised to read that he doesn't have steel wingtip bows, just a steel cover over the tips - seems that the wooden wingtip bows might crack if he put a wing down hard enough, but they seem to be pretty stout.

That is an old act, but it is still a good one.  Back in the late 70's early 80's there was a guy that did a show like that.  I never knew his name everyone just called him "Doowat", he was deaf in one ear and couldn't hear out of the other.  Everytime you asked him a question he would say,"Do What".  Between him and Paul Fiala, Duane Cole, Lefty Gardner, and Bob Hoover, we always had a good airshow at the Harlingen airport for the CAF.  That was back in the day when the O'club stayed open till sun up, and the FAA worked with the people doing the Airshow.  After the show was over the pilots stayed with the planes and let the kids set in the Cockpit, for Free, and the shows were about having fun.  I still fly airshows once in a while but they are not the same, as they were in,"The good old days."  Man that makes me feel old.

IIRC Duane Cole (could be wrong about the pilot that did the act, it's been a LONG while ago) used to do something similar. He did it as if he were getting a first ride in the cub as an airshow gimme. While the "instructor pilot" was outside the bird with the engine running, checking on something the "student" then took off. It was a great show.

Yea MR. Cole did it also, I saw him do his once, and then the next year, Doowat did his.  THey were both great.  One year a guy tried to back a J-3 up with a good 15 Kt wind and was doing great till the wind died and he broke the Bungees in the Cub when he dropped it about 10 foot.
