New vidoe card time.....advice?

I've started to notice a few glitches lately with my aging PC.  Any advice out there?  I'm at work so I don't have acess to my system infomation right now.  (Not even sure where to find it either).  This is what I can tell you right now.....

Windows XP with SP 3.
200 GB HD
1.5 GB RAM

(forgot the processor speed, but I think it might be a 3.0 back on that later)

My current video card is a NVidia G-Force 1650XP (I think it was the 512MB).

Anything else that might be helpful, let me know.  I just wont be able to get the info till late today.  Working a double till 1500 EST.

Seriously, Windows is about 1/2 a million glitchy processes all munged together - it's something of a miracle that it works at all (when it does).  In order to give you pertinent advice, we need a better description of what the problems you are experiencing might be.

Obie, how long has it been since you wiped the drive and reloaded? I've seen some heavy users that reload every 6 to 12 months...most people don't reload their systems unless they're forced to...

Wipe the drive and reload...if you don't have 2 hard drives in the system, go buy another drive and use it as storage space for stuff you want to keep...that way you can reload your primary drive without having to worry about how to save that 50 gigs of music and pron...

I actually don't have much on this hard drive.  I wiped it about 8 months ago.  I also have two external hard drives.  One I use just for photographs and stupid stuff.  The 2nd drive is used for my more important documents. 

I did a forum search and found one of my "glitches" is caused by my framerate dropping too low.  The other problem I started having might be another simple fix.  Going to try something later this weekend. 

This pc is my junker.  The wife has the Mac.

If you're frame rates are dropping that will cause problems...you're probably going to end up tweaking that system...you could try some of Skuzzy's system optimization suggestions.
