Ive got a few more questions. I assume all my DLC will still work on the new xbox?

And on my old xbox, I didnt use an HDMI cable (i used the cable right under it as far as picture quality goes.) So my question is, if I use an HDMI cable will I still be able to use my surround sound rather than the crappy tv speakers?

Thanks in advance and for your replies thus far.

Yes, as long as your surround sound gets its feed/source from your TV's audio output (the signal needs to go from the XBox, to the TV, and then outputed from the TV to whatever it is powering your surround sound system.  If it currently doesnt, and your TV has an audio output port available (and your surround system and audio input port available), a quick wiring job and proper volume adjustments so you don't blow anything is all ya need to do).

Quick question for anyone following the XBox Slim thing coming out, how much of our current XBox 360 stuff will be compatable?  I'm assuming games, controllers, and mem cards, but in particular I'm wondering about our 360 hard drives.

There aren't really any specifics on the 'slim' 360, in fact no one knows if it's going to be a slim model or not.  Most are just assuming it is because of the intergrated Valhalla CPU/GPU requires less cooling and power.  The reported leaked pictures of the Valhalla equipped 360s so far have either only shown the power requirement sticker in back showing the lower power rating or badly photoshopped pictures of a slim 360.

If there is a slim model, I would expect the controllers, memory card and games would compatible but maybe not the hard drive because of the possible different design if Microsux goes the way of a slim model.
